Grass Strips & Food - CT/MA/NY

Hi all,

Any airports in CT or around this area (NY, MA) with grass strips and a cafe/restaurant onfield, or easy walking distance?

Looking for fun places to fly and eat.

Thanks!

Katama on Marthas Vineyard is a nice grass airfield with a good restaurant. You can taxi down close to the beach or take the public transportation around the island. Bring your surf rod. The fishing is pretty good right near the beach parking area.

Marlboro Ct has a nice grass strip. Plenty of friendly aviators there. You could fly 5 minutes south from there, and land at Goodspeed airport along the Connecticut River. Nice little village with a few restaurants.

Also curious about any good grass strips! Should have the 140 home by the end of this month!

Lots of small strips along the coast with food nearby,

For grass, Plum Island, MA 2B2 has a paved and grass strip (2,150' & 2,300' respectively) with a lobster shack within walking distance, great little airport. Basin Harbor in VT has a beautiful 3,000'strip on Lake Champlain, B06 and a great restaurant. If you are looking for fun strips to fly into ours is grass, 3,000,' a little uphill/downhill with a slight dogleg. 0NY0 Bennett's Field, North Creek, NY. If I know you are coming I would be happy to leave a vehicle for you. It's a short drive (<1 mile) into town, where there is limited but good food, depending on the day (Hey it's the off season).

Thanks! Would you be OK with pitching a tent there for an overnight campout? Maybe in the spring when it warms up a bit (woke up to 39 a couple weekends ago at 2B3 in NH). Any fishing within walking distance?

Sure,

Anytime. Either at the airport, or our base which is about 2 miles away (We own a rafting co.). Depending on the time of year, there is pretty good Trout and or Smallmouth fishing close by.
