Guess who has two thumbs and.....

A new-to-me old 1956 Cessna 180!

A HUGE shout out and thank you to fellow BCP members who helped me find a bird after I sold my J3 a few weeks ago. Aeropod did a great job with a very thorough pre-buy inspection, Mountainmatt and Hector (forgot your handle here) answered too many questions! I really appreciate all the guidance.

You may know that I have been searching for a unicorn for a while. I wanted either an undamaged early 180 or a long wing M7 Maule. I found a good 180 locally and it will be a good platform for me to work off of. I'm very excited.

Good on you! If you fly that bird up towards Nebraska, drop a note and we'll have a steak and a brew. Those early 180's are a great combination of slow, fast, and load carrying. Enjoy!

Awesome Soy! Congratulations!

Welcome to the club! - Just kidding, I hate clubs...

Swing by Oregon now that you have a plane that can go sort of fast and carry bikes.

"Undamaged" hahahaha. Did Santa sign those log books? ;)

But seriously, congrats. She even has a great unique paint scheme/color.

The "rap sheet"...

Did you get the records CD from the FAA? The $5.00 deal. Any interesting 337s ?

Right on, man! I saw that listing and am glad to learn that you bought it.

Let me know when you start missing flying with the door open burning 4gph. I may be on the hunt for a tin can of my own, but my Cub isn't going anywhere.

Re: Guess who has two thumbs and.....

Yes I did. Nothing interesting. Batman signed the logs but they were lost in a fire. The tell tale signs are the rivets and tin work. Of course she's had some repairs but nothing major and she's nice and straight.

The mods so far are modest:

Knisley exhaust
BAS seat belts
BAS tail pulls
XP mods 10" tailwheel
8.50 tires with 6" wheels
Cleveland double pick brakes
Atlee dodge folding rear seats

Re: Guess who has two thumbs and.....

Ha! My C85 never saw 4gph. More like 5.5. And throw in the quart of oil every 4 hours. :-)

I loved my cub. The new owner is a BCP member and I'm sure he will introduce himself in due time.

Nothing can touch a cub for fun flying. But I'm looking forward to my new world problems!

Looking nice! Great find. Clean mods!

Horror stories file...

Owner here in Hawaii who bought an aircraft with an STCed camera hole. The STC was inspected for a 135 operation ...it was installed "incorrectly" per FAA inspector (and IA) and cost the guy almost $40K to get the aircraft airworthy. Worst case I ever knew of!
