Gunnison River Farms, CO Fly-in - May 15-17 (CANCELLED)

***UPDATED***
Due to the low registration numbers for the GRF fly-in, the owner has decided to cancel the May fly-in and reschedule it at a later date (perhaps in the fall). Only two RSVP's were submitted thus far, and the cost of staffing and providing resources for the fly-in would have been a great expense loss to the ranch. We hope you understand, and apologize for any inconvenience.

The other, more popular, option that weekend is the Mack Mesa Fat Tire fly-in. It is a great fly-in with wonderful fly-out destinations and we hope you can make that instead.

Exciting news! The first annual Gunnison River Farms Fly-in will take place the weekend of May 15-17th.

The owner of this gorgeous private airfield was excited about the opportunity about hosting a fly-in when we visited the farm last fall. Known for it's world class guided fishing trips on the Gunnison River, the property boasts a 2700 ft long airstrip. The property has 6 spacious cabins and plenty of room for tent camping. Activities include hiking, fishing, paddle boarding, swimming, mtn biking, etc. Just walking throughout the property is an experience. Breakfast and dinner will be catered throughout the fly-in and a 1/2 day rafting trip is available for $75.

The owner asks that attendees must RSVP and sign the online ewaiver by May 13th. Please do not just drop in. Several packages to choose from over the weekend. Since this is a farm/ranch, the owner asks that dogs stay home.

For more additional info and the ewaiver, please visit the flycolorado.org GRF page here:
http://www.flycolorado.org/index.php/ai ... ver-farms/
(Power lines and other hazards are within the vicinity.)

Fly-in registration details are found here, please read over it carefully prior to your submission.

This is a great way to kick off the backcountry flying season here in CO. :)

Jim,

This is a good one for your Bonanza, the airstrip is long and smooth. It would be great to see you there!

She's so pretty... I hate to get her dirty! I'm looking hard for a super cub or a husky... I already bought another hangar...

We'll see if I can make this one happen!

I think I'll fill out the forms, but I'm hard pressed to want to leave my pupdog Molly at home--she's been my camping buddy since she was only 4 months old. Looks like a great place, for sure.

Count me in. I'll bring the family.

Fruita is a long way away - and the mountain biking around Gunnison and Crested Butte would be far better. I hope to bring my bike to (wife will drive the truck) so let's plan some riding.

Also want to do some fly fishing.. Gonna be fun!

Cary, I hear ya. Molly isn't the only pup that wants to come. I can understand the wishes of the owner though.

Greg, that's great the whole family is coming!

Soy,
Are you going to fly the supercub from Boulder? I doubt I would go, but if I did I would be coming from Nebraska in the Husky. Maybe flight of 2 or more.

Yeah, Dan that would be fun. Of course you'll have to slow the husky down quite a bit or you'll leave me in the dust - but let's try to coordinate.

Of course if you leave Nebraska at first light and I leave Boulder at first light - we might meet up at the same time over Monarch pass! ;-)

Bump. Don't forget to register if you are comin'! Elsewise the Anarchisto clan will have to try and catch all the fish and raise all the cane!

Any musicians comin'? Make sure you bring it for some pickin' round the fire. I'll have my guitar.

I called Ladd over at Mack Mesa to see if/when their fly-in would be. Ends up it is the same weekend. I'm planning on going to it, but since you guys are going to only be a half hour or so away, I'd like to swing by and say hi. I'll get the form filled out.

That's really unfortunate that the dates are the same. I always love flying to Mack and on to the Moab area.... The camping at the State park next door is awesome too.

There is a HITS series Triathlon that weekend at the park next to Mack.
I'm doing my first Tri on my 61st birthday Sunday the 17th.
I hope to be at some of the Mack fly-in festivities on Sat.
I would love to head to Gunnison also but I can't squeeze it all in.

I think I'm down for Mack instead, I get my biking in at Fruita and the camping is cheaper.
