Hangar Doors
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
I've read most of the comments on Hanger Door's with keen interest. Sliding doors(Lake Mohave) are the biggest pain but cheapest . Bi-fold doors are great but come at a premium price . We built a 50x12 (AZ50 ranch )bifold with everything for around 2 grand -Steel, motor and drive bar . My other hanger(BVU) has a 70 x14 foot bifold that works pretty good and eats electricity at a demanding rate . If you have a electric door have a generator for back up else get trapped when power goes out. I'd like to try a Hydro swing but have held back by hydro cylinders cost .. Material's cost is driving factor with 2 inch square tube and welding rod +labor . Electric motors and drive units run 2-300 bucks ,sheeting for outside is easy cost. Most of the door company's will run 8-12 grand with there installation. Pole barn (40x40) with roll up fabric door is pretty cheap but dirty .

Sorry Tom, nope. But you might get a chance to have a brief look at the magic smoke!

I'm curious as to why it would smoke? Hooking up half voltage, and only one lead? While I don't think it would work, it shouldn't smoke. Now if you were hooking 240 up to a 120 motor it would smoke.

The motor torque would drop to a small fraction of rated torque, resulting in the motor running slower (if at all). Slowing the motor even slightly raises current draw significantly, causing heat and burnt insulation if protections aren't in place.

Reminds me of my favorite door. Look in the bottom right corner at the beginning and you'll see me walking into the hangar to give a sense of scale. I'm not a tiny guy...

The video view is kinda "squished", plus on at least the second video the imagery is laying on it's side. Better review your techniques and/or cam settings.

I don't have a hangar but have used 2 different diamond doors on seperate occasions. They worked very well. The locking mechanisms worked great for suckling the door tight. Only thing is I wish they used straps intend of cables.
