I will be starting my last trip at the job in Saudi tomorrow so I won't have access to the Gulfstream. I'm not to sure it would work very well on a lake bed anyway.
On the other hand I will have plenty of time available, unless I find a new job. No doubt my wife would shoot me and bury me in the back yard if I buy an airplane before finding a job.
what to do, what to do.
I have a personal "in" at the Target store in SLO. I could put in a good word for you if you like. :D

Gonna need floats for the lakebed today. About 75% of the surface is under water when I buzzed over a few ago. Of course, it'll be a bit less wet by tomorrow!

That may be a good thing. The dirt bike guys had a lot of donuts and deep ruts cut into the surface this summer.

Did you get your BLM permit? Are you ordering toilets? Or shall we bring our own?

Cheers

From my conversation with the BLM folks a permit is not needed for a FREE event.

I am however getting a couple port-a potties this year as I think we will have a strong number turn out. They are pretty easy. They come on a trailer for transport and pick them up for a small fee. The lake bed is very easy to get to from the highway.

We also just picked up a free keg of beer courtesy of our good friends at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Things are coming together.

Again if you are reading this and planning on joining us please go to the event thread and post that you are coming. This will help greatly for planning. As of now I see 14 signed up and I know of at least 7 others coming for certain that have not. That puts us up around 21 planes as of today.

We just got a smoke system in one of the groups RV-4's, so maybe we can arrange a fly by ;)

Kev, are you still thinking two shotgun shells?

With a cannon, flame thrower, guns, beer etc this seems like the kind of fly-in that would be better to bring a friend to rather than the wife and kids, true?

Whee-
We have had wives, kids, grandpa's etc. All are welcome. There is a cool old mine to explore along with some entertaining high elevation landings that offer a lot of hiking if you so desire. Nights can be loud with the late nighters but its pretty easy to camp away from the roughnecks. We have endless amounts of landing opportunities for a levels of flyers. Hope you make it!

Sounds like one hell of a good time!

I'm going to try to make it down there, now if work and the weather will just cooperate.
