I started calling my airplane LRB soon after I bought her 15 years ago, for Little Red Bird. She's predominately red, but the reason behind the name isn't the color. Back in 1903, my great Gramma bought property on Lake Erie about 35 miles east of Cleveland, on Red Bird Beach, near Madison-on-the-Lake. Through the years, we always referred to our property as Red Bird. We kept that property in the family until my Sis and I sold it 16 years ago. She used her proceeds to improve her house; I used mine to buy my airplane, hence Little Red Bird, which I quickly shortened to LRB.

I named our '63 182 Wanda because it sounds a lot like 'wander' and it fits pretty well. Everyone at our airport knows her that way.

I was going to do an Instagram series as 'Wandalust' but it turns out she is a pretty prolific porn star. Oops.

Quite possibly the most un-original name for this aircraft type.

I have always liked Piper Pacers. Right now I am on my third. The one previous to this was named "Bird of Pray". Yes it is spelled correctly (think about it). I haven't decided on a name for my current Pacer, and I am considering "Hot to Trot". However, at the moment I am leaning toward "Spirit". This plane is really gorgeous and flying it is a great joy.

"Bird of Pray" is priceless. Very clever.

I don't name cars or objects in general. But when I bought my C180, my dad called it Uno Dos Bravo one time in reference to it's N, N9512B. He was exactly 1/15th share holder (he gave me $5000 so he could say he was an airplane owner) so I let it stick. I never called it that except jokingly. OffAirportGear went and made a youtube video with the name however so what the hell.
