It didn’t smack him near hard enough in my opinion! Jerk….

Re: Interesting crash and bailout video

Pilot who was also a skydiver was prosecuted by the FAA for bailing out of C-150 post (I presume real) engine failure. Late 80's or early 90's. FAA said he had plenty of options thus bailing out created a hazard.

This is totally staged.. Who the heck flies with a parachute, jumps out and had their selfie stick ready to go.

Not a lot of prewar aircraft around, too bad this one’s demise was so senseless. Hopefully he’s violated after this type of shenanigans. Yes I called shenanigans on this.

The only part of that video I appreciated was seeing him drink from that creek a few feet from a pile of cow crap.

Except for that part: Staged.

Re: Interesting crash and bailout video

It's a compounding collision of multiple karmic offenses: destroying a cool old airplane gets you a special place on Beelzebub's lap. Doing it for sponsors is just lame. And selling the whole thing as some real emergency like the worst produced reality show of all time is the worst offense.

There is still so much cool stuff on YouTube without having to endure the endless shameless talking heads. Bring back the dislike button!

Re: Interesting crash and bailout video

He's Trevor Jacob. Looks like he does a lot of (goofball) stuff on his YouTube channel:
'I got attacked by a cow'
'I got stuck on a chairlift'
'I got kidnapped at the airport'
'I taught myself to Paramotor'
'Freight train hopping'
etc.....
As far as I'm concerned That whole thing was staged for more video content to bring attention to his channel.

“I Crashed My Plane”

Yes. Yes, you did.

Add me to the list of BS callers. So many red flags. Where to even start?

Door already ajar before the engine quit. As everyone else pointed out, the scads of altitude and many options for forced landing. Prop windmilling on decent rules out catastrophic engine failure. My favourite is the implausibility of an experienced skydiver following the plane to the crash site and landing in deep brush instead of landing near civilization or in the many, many perfectly clear meadows he could have glided to… *cough* crash footage retrieval *cough*

I am eagerly awaiting the next gripping title from the creator of such memorable cinematic classics as; “Eating From a Dumpster (I Actually Did This). I sincerely hope it will be; “I Was Tazed for Resisting Arrest” followed by a six year hiatus and then: “I Just Got Out of Jail For Crashing My Plane”.

Re: Interesting crash and bailout video

This social media overnight stardom and quest for likes and shares just lends itself to attracting narcissistic behavior. This video is eerily similar to the A36 that ditched into the Pacific Ocean a couple of years ago. When the cell phones and GoPros come out of the pockets before any real safety concerns there is only one conclusion - Fraud. I think the FAA and NTSB need to make examples of these characters. The behavior to most is obvious but there is a small minority of people who watch antics like these and it inspires them to do something similar. I did read through many of the comments on the YouTube page and he got called out by a few people who knew him personally. I don't know how people like this live with themselves.

Fortunately for the pilot, there is likely a federal prison located within a relatively convenient distance.

Wouldn't want to inconvenience him too much, after all.

I hoped to get the N number to look it up on Kathryn’s, but no such luck. There’s one scene where you can see where it is, but I couldn’t read it.

How much money is there in this? All of these frauds are pretty young — even Theodore Wright III, my favorite. Maybe there’s a market for this kind of thing as performed by StuBob, who’ll be 60 in a few weeks. “I wouldn’t have been able to hike out like this before my knee replacement. . . .”

Re: Interesting crash and bailout video

I think the pilot did a great job, and was considerate enough to document it all for our continued safety related education. I'm getting a parachute ordered today, and a selfie stick #-o

Kidding aside, as stupid as this all was, it was a good trick even getting into a T-Craft while wearing a chute, much less bailing out, with the small cabin and forward hinged doors, and holding onto and using the selfie stick while sky diving. Good execution of a lame ass, dishonest concept, lets give credit where credit is due! I'm going to go out on a limb, and predict that the NSTB will find fuel exhaustion as the culprit, judging by the T-Craft's fuel level wire being down all the way, plus it would also be the easiest way for this turkey to set the entire sad episode up.

Big thanks to the Stryker Triathlon Total Knee System. They have not seen this video before any of you and have not had a say in editing but my personal performance hiking through this chaparral should not in any way reflect upon on the quality of their product.

Re: Interesting crash and bailout video

If you go to Google earth, you will see the plane crash is only one mile and 1300 ft above the river valley and 4x4 trail. The half hour downhill walk to his friends truck might be why he did not pack his chute. DENNY

Just saw the AvWeb article that says the FAA has opened an investigation. Glad to see it.
