Awesome. I can't wait to get back there and try the springs this time.

Maybe it's the exhaust leak? Maybe it's the altitude? Either way, it works!Image

And the small one doesn't much care for the pilots music selection...Image

Re: Kids & Planes picture thread

The was taken a few years ago when we were walking the ramp at Sunriver, and noticed the prototype RV-14(A). At the time, Kyle had a thing for wheel chocks and tie downs, and noticed that the -14 wasn't tied down. I didn't actually let him tie it down, but it made for a great pic :)

Re: Kids & Planes picture thread

I love these kinds of threads! I couldn't resist adding some retrospective pictures of our kids. For those of you with little kids, keep flying with them! It's not always easy, but it's incredibly rewarding.

Our daughter, age 4 at the time, in the backseat of my old Citabria:

Image

After landing at Oshkosh 2006. Hard to believe that she's 15 now!
Image

At age 6 flying the Skywagon wearing her awesome faux fur jacket:
Image

Flying us to McKenzie Bridge for a camping trip with her beloved "Lamby" in her lap:

Image

Our son is 7 years younger. Here he is early on flying to San Diego in style:

Image

A few years later, walking the strip after we landed at Soldier Bar, Idaho on a camping trip:

Image

Here he is at age 7 flying us home from Moose Creek last summer. He can't reach the pedals, but does a good job with the rest:
Image

The whole family at Glacier Creek airstrip, the Wrangells, AK. I was so excited after landing there that I totally messed up the exposure on this picture. Anyway, it's still it's one of my favorite pictures, and probably the highlight of my flying life so far.

You can see my daughter is flying while I'm trying to get a good picture from the reflection off my glasses, lol.

Awesome Kristian! I love going through and looking at pics of my kids as they've grown up around airplanes. Great memories there. Keep making them!

Yeah, that's a fundamental rule of children: feed them and they will grow. Pretty soon that little kid that said the wacky things, mispronounced words, jumped into your lap and spilled your drink, laughed at you from 20' up in the tree he wasn't supposed to climb, insisted on walking but suddenly cried out "Daddy, carry me!" grew to be a better father than his father never was. I'm talking about my #1 kid--I am so proud of the man he has become.

This is one of my favorite pics, taken about 6 years ago, of my son and grandson, the summer before my granddaughter was born.

Image

This is another of my favorite pics, which shows the kind of man my son is, as he prayed just before my granddaughter was born.

Image

That's what we all hope for, that our kids will become the kind of parents we wish we could have been for them. Sometimes that happens, and I can say without fear of contradiction that my hopes have been fulfilled.

Thanks for sharing that Cary. I can only hope to be so fortunate as you are with your son. I couldn't agree more about what you say regarding them becoming the kind of parents we wish we had been for them. I see my short comings more every day as I get older and pray my kids become more as people than I ever will.

Thanks to everyone else who has also shared their family photos with the rest of us.

Thanks Zzz. That used to be our favorite BC stop when Dick and Ramona had Castle Creek. The kids loved going there.

Orillia, Ontario 2006(?) Tech stop after a Georgian Bay trip.

The older guy is my size now; hoping to solo on his 16th birthday next February. He wants to do it off the lake, on skis.

Great picture aqua! Yeah, how fast they grow. Hope we see pictures of your son's solo flight posted on here, too.
