Maule insurance: what’s your most recent premium?

Had my insurance broker run a general quote for me for a M7 180-260 hp, with my 5 hours in make/model.

$125k hull and $1M/$100k is $4,918
$180k hull and $1M/$100k is $6,000

This is spec’d as a 5-seat aircraft in his data.

Unclear on whether he applied the 15% hangared and 5% AOPA discount or not.

What are others seeing? Did you see a significant drop after 100 hrs in make/model?

Husky $180K- $4500. Wife 125 hrs & me 200 hrs in make/model over 5 yrs in same Husky. Owning/flying tandem TWs constantly since learning in Champ in 1981. Although, we're paying a premium for being 70/73 yrs old I'm sure.

Never got a discount from more time in Husky.

I wonder how much less if it was spec'd as a 4 seater?

I've heard Maule insurance tends to be expensive--
I wonder what their quote would be for a similarly-valued C180 with similar time in type?

I'm on the hunt for a new bird.

BWI quote for a 180 was half what the Maule quote was. Both at 150k hull.

That was my experience 8 years ago when I bought my 180.

Price never went down as I acquired hours in the 180.

Is that on floats? Can't offer any insight on Maule rates but that seems pretty high.

I was aware premiums are high for the make but was pretty shocked at that. Quote is for wheels only. I had a quote for a C180 on floats that was about half that.

Can you adjust the deductible at all, I found that made a difference. However that said I reside a bit north of your Lat/Long position.

$2,100 from Avemco full coverage. $350,000 hull value, 1mil/100k per seat. Husky. No accidents, incidents claims or violations. High time.

No off airport restrictions.

Grumman Widgeon 25 years ago, $250,000 hull value. 400 hours in Widgeon, $13,000 per year.

Re: Maule insurance: what’s your most recent premium?

750 total PIC, ~300 tailwheel, 5 in make/model.

Initially ~$3,500 for 90k hull $1m/100k

After a claim ~$7,100 for 150k hull $1m/100k

With Avemco. The claim process was smooth and off airport was covered. The price increase hurt, but they were great to work with during the claim and would recommend without hesitation.

Seems like you might be able to get it lower if you push it as a 4 seat. They wanted to count my Scout as a 3 seat, but we went with 2 seat which lowered.

Re: Maule insurance: what’s your most recent premium?

180 Hp MX7-180C on wheels - $100K hull, $1,000,000/$100,000 liability limits, $5K in medical coverage per person, no off-airport limitations and I'm paying $2,275/year with a commercial license, instrument rating, 2360 total time, 1,344 Maule time, 1,518 t/w time. I'm currently with BWI and my coverage is through Global Aerospace. When I started flying this bird in 2013, I only had 10 hours in the Maule and ~250 total t/w time and my premiums were only $1,400/year. The cost has gone up, but not enough for me to give up this hobby...yet. That time may come. Nobody ever claimed this would be a cheap pursuit. I'm just thankful it is in reach financially. A lot of hard work, and even more good luck was required to get to this point in life.
