Those little radios are awesome, and they're like $30 each.

As for Xmas morning, it was awesome. Eldest daughter loves airplanes and airplane-related toys. The youngest is concerned strictly with boobs.

Now just figuring our how to use and mount it. Looking forward to having some videos like all the cool folks post!

Likewise. I think I'm going to get a wing strut mount kit from Nflightcam. They have nice interior mounts as well.

Re: Merry Christmas 2017... what'd ya get(or do)?

I got fancy real airplane style chocks for the plane and a handheld radio. I listened to the radio for about ten minutes, then decided to go flying.

My best present was a trip to our cabin alone with my eldest (18) son. Quality time. My second best was a truck cleaning by my 16 year old son. I forgot what colour the dash was supposed to be. Gifts of time and service are my favourite by far.

A joint present to my wife and I, our plane (Wanda) is heading in for a facelift early in Jan... new paint on the wings and elevator, plus lifting rings to make float installation quicker. I ordered the Selkirk interior and the SCS vinyl floor, she's gonna look 20 years younger!

Merry Christmas all, I feel truly blessed this year.

My daughter and son in law came up from Utah with the grandchildren, family trumps everything!

Walking around the house is a hazard again, were it not for my cat-like reflexes developed from reading backcountry flying stories, many a toy may have done me in. :D

I'm not sure the family and I are totally on the same page. They got me a new 28 footer! I was thinking more flying and less work this year, but perhaps they are tired of me energetically managing with something not quite suitable for the job...

A buddy of mine gave me a new (still in cosmoline) rear R2800 cylinder for an F4U Corsair. It's pretty cool! This particular one was produced by the Ford Motor Company.
5.75 " bore, 6" Stroke. Horsepower was over 100 per cylinder.
It's been interesting reading up on the engine. Here are a couple links to info on it. The production numbers are amazing.

I wanted snow...I got snow. About 18" at the house.

Fun fun fun!

And a day of plowing. Even with an eight foot blade it takes a while to plow a mile of road with five switchbacks...

My wife got me a pair of Cloudbase Optics Leewave sunglasses. I'll be spending an absurd amount of time in an airplane so I needed something good. I'll give a review once I've got some hours on them. Merry Christmas!

More of a giggly place...I'm sure there are conditions that will stop it, but I haven't found them yet. Five feet of powder so dry you couldn't make a snowball with a hydraulic ram? It pushes right through, mile after mile. Today I was pushing a six foot berm of water-soaked snow in front of me and it still never lost traction.

And ya, the cab is heated, and then some. I wouldn't think a little engine like that would put out much heat, but it's a blowtorch on high.

It's surprisingly loud though. Lots of transmission noise, and in snow you have to move the air intakes into the cab, which make a lot of noise. I ordered a aviation intercom with music input yesterday. We'll plug in a couple headsets and a ipod and rock out to the Hillbilly Bugger Boys, which later turned into the Rolling Stones, which is when they lost their grove.

There's a couple feet of snow under the tracks here, and I'm just backtracking what I ran up earlier...

Ya those things are awesome. Amazing where theyll go, even on wheels. I had a 2014 with a crew cab. Was pushing to put tracks on it, but sold it when I moved and went to school.

I wear my Bose A20 in my John Deere more than in the airplane. Makes it quieter than the new ones.
