I could have connected the pitot / static systems to the G5 and had the same display as RKTX, but I chose to not connect them & to use the menu to de-select the airspeed / altimeter ribbons. It gives me a less cluttered display, and I figured since the standard airspeed indicator & altimeter are right on either side of the G5 there was no point in duplicating that information.

180lamb - your airplane looks great, inside and out.
hotrod180 - thanks for the response, good to know. I've made my decision.....G5 will be going in, vacuum system going out. Just curious, how do you plumb the airspeed and altitude tape on the G5 while leaving the airspeed indicator and altimeter in place and functional? Can the P/S lines be split to feed the gauges and the G5?

Im not hotrod, but the pitot static can be split. I just replaced the straight fittings that went into the old Airspeed with T- Fittings, connected hoses to that and ran those to the G5.

Another benefit-- besides the "if you don't have it, it can't break" thing, I removed 14 pounds of vacuum stuff & replaced it all with less than a pound of G5.
FWIW I was warned I might not get a good GPS signal with the internal antenna, so I bought a Garmin GA25 antenna for $24 from GPScity.com and installed it on top of the glareshield. Works great, and acquires a signal much faster than my Samsung tablet with GPS app.

Not sure if you fly at night or not, but as far as I can figure, the G5 will not meet the night requirements in Canada. Of you know different I'd love to hear.
