New (to us) '46 Cessna 190
Technical and practical discussion about specific aircraft types such as Cessna 180, Maule M7, et al. Please read and search carefully before posting, as many popular topics have already been discussed.
Buzzlatka and I (and the rest of our LLC group) just traded our Stearman for a C190 (and our twin Comanche for a Swift)
Not really a bush plane, but a utilitarian piece of history. Might show up at the fly in ...never know.
Looking forward to getting to know her. She's got the smaller Conty 240hp motor.

I love the looks of the 190/195 and yours is extra nice. When I was bird shopping last year it was hard to not get one. But figured I best get something with more forward visibility on the ground or I'd bend it for sure off airport. That's a dandy you got there!

So awesome!!! I love the 190/195 and the swift too! I've always wanted a 195 but there is no way I could justify it. My great uncle had a swift he put some big engine in and took it to AK. I was told it was a heck if a plane and a blast to fly. Sounds like a really fun club you guys have set up.

So Emm,
Do you feel the need to wear a coat, tie, and hat when you travel in your 190?
I know I did when I got my 30 mins. of 195 time.
Classy!
Looks sweet

Tom Weiss perished in a mid-air collision October 12, 2014. He was an enthusiastic and beloved contributor here for close to 10 years, and he will be missed greatly.
That is awesome! Feel free to fly over to Rio Vista and give me a ride! I have a lot of gas money that isn't being used by my 170

I'm wearing my jealous face.
I've never been in one but I've always loved the beauty of the 190/195's. I don't think I'll ever be able to afford to own one but I'll dang sure try to fly one before I'm finished!

Have had 2 195's, both 300 hp. Great cruisers, Traded the last 1 for the Broussard, attention getting classic no matter where you land!! Have fun!! At least get a brim hat to wear when you get out!

Have as much Fun as is Safe, and Keep SMILIN! GT,
Thanks guys - I think it would be cool to dress the whole family up in 1940's sunday church clothes and show up at a fly in.
We almost had a 195 with the 245 Jake, which we would have swapped for the 300hp cylinders, but this plan is actually nicer. We are not sure how long the group will keep it - current plan is to immediately put it up for sale/trade for a 180 or a Maule, but we will see.
The Swift already has the 180hp motor and cowl, P51 gear doors, and an upgraded canopy, but we will likely add sticks and maybe eventually the sliding canopy. Man, they look so sweet with all those mods.

Looks Gorgeous Emmet! I sold out of my airplane partnership at Exec last night....wish I'd have known it was there, I'd have stopped by to see it.

Land, get out of the plane, and run over to the nearest person and in a panicked, wild tone ask: "what year is it? What year is it?? Where's Jimmy?!!"
