Pacific NW Aviation Conf, 2/25-26/2017

Didn't see anything about this years PNW Aviation conference yet. Any other BCP'ers going. Forecast looks like I might be able to fly from the east side of the state for once. Maybe meet for lunch?

Re: Pacific NW Aviation Conf, 2/25-26/2017

Looks like a guy could go to all three sessions on Wilderness Survival on Saturday and have a lunch break from ~1:00-2:15.

Here's a link to the PDF http://www.washington-aviation.org/schedule_2017.pdf, and on pg 3 it has the matrix. I am only planning Saturday myself. Did Sunday a couple of years ago and felt like it wasn't worth the cost of accomadations.

I'll be there both days attending the IA refresher course. Lunch is from 12:15-1:30. Great time to meet up and put some names to faces.

I plan on flying in on Saturday. Hotrod180 - you say you can drive there as fast as fly? How hard do you push that poor CRV?

Re: Pacific NW Aviation Conf, 2/25-26/2017

15+ minutes to the airport, 10+ minutes to pull the plane out & taxi, 35+ minutes to fly to Thun, 10 minutes to taxi/park/tie down, 15 minutes waiting for shuttle, 15 minutes riding shuttle = 1:40, and that's if everything goes well. But it only takes me about 1:30 to drive directly to the Puyallup fairgrounds. And although the wx is forecast to be clear saturday, I can go IFR in the car if need be.
But I gotta admit it's not as much fun driving..

I don't see the RAF on the show floor. Informal lunch at 1300? I'll wear my Cessna hat...

I think we will have to drive also :(

Class gets out at 12:15 then I'll head over to get the lunch provided. I'll be wearing my favorite faded green camo shorts.
Going to cruise through the booths before class starts again. Give me a call/text if you want to meet up and say hi.

Everybody keep an eye out for me, say hi if you see me.
I'll be the late-middle-aged white guy in the airplane t-shirt.

Re: Pacific NW Aviation Conf, 2/25-26/2017

Not the greatest weather on the flight down, or back, but the show itself was good. It seemed more crowded than in years past despite the so-so weather for flying in.

Here's what is looked like as I started towards Pierce County Field - sandwiched between layers

Image

There are clearings down there for landing if things go sour - you just can't see them

It cleared up a bit over Blake Island

Once at Thun Field, all was well, and there was some interesting hardware on the ground there.

Re: Pacific NW Aviation Conf, 2/25-26/2017

I spent both Saturday and Sunday there with our company TAC Aero. I gave a talk on Sunday morning about our CubCrafters Factory Training program. Another of my coworkers gave a talk on Saturday about tailwheel training in general. I thought the event was well attended and had a good time meeting some old friends and making some new ones. Talking airplanes for the whole weekend was pretty fun. I don't get to do that at home much
