Congrats! As I heard from the DE when I passed my private checkride 46 years ago last month, "now you have a license to learn." So go out, use that new certificate, and start the learning process! Never, ever think that you know it all. Those of us who have been flying for eons are still learning, almost every flight. Or as I like to say: No pilot is infallible, regardless of ratings and experience. We're all students, just at different levels of knowledge and skill.

Thanks for everyone's comments. My wife was my first passenger and we flew up to Half Moon Bay. It was a beautiful day on the coast ~ the perfect day for both of us

Forty years ago, my first flight with my PPL was to take my wife from OAR (formerly Ft Ord AAF, now Marina Municipal) up to Santa Cruz, with a stopover at Half Moon Bay. It was a gorgeous day, and we created a magical memory. A few months later, we flew back to Ft Ord from Las Vegas, crossing over the mountains into the valley just as the sun went down. She was enthralled by the beauty of all lights strung out along the highways, the lit-up cities, etc. Another magical moment...

Hey Jim,

Great story & I'm based out of Marina Airport. My first overnight with the wife will be to Paso Robles for some wine tasting and then we are planning to go over to Vegas for a weekend. Fun stuff :D
