Cool. A little more "meat" than the Valdez STOL.

BTW Who is the fastest? 2nd 3rd...

Despite not being very pleased with my showing at the drag race, here's a tail cam look at one of my unsuccessful runs. It was a lot of fun though!

That dog has been all over the US, Caribbean, and Europe. I can't believe we haven't lost it! At one point Adam went through a phase that he'd drop it out of the airplane. We had to always do a check before closing the doors. I said the dog could go to HSF but it had to stay in the tent...one to keep it clean and two, so I didn't have to go hunting for it. It is definitely well worn and much loved!

Well, until Kevin or someone else "in charge" posts anything "official", my understanding is that the final four were the Wilga (eventual winner), the souped up Super Cub (Kevin Eldredge), the 2005 G2 Cirrus SR22, and me in my 300 HP 182.

I believe the SR22 laid down the fastest time of the day at 1:42, the Wilga had a 1:43, I had a 1:46, and I don't know the Cub's best time. The Cirrus had to drop out because his brakes overheated (duh)! He had to fly around between heats to cool them off! They now sell aftermarket heavy duty brakes with better cooling for the SR22, so if he gets those, he'll be tough to beat!

I later learned that the other three guys were experienced race pilots (Reno) and fighter pilots. That made me feel pretty good about representin' the nosedraggers out there! I'd never tried any sort of racing and it was a blast!

Here's a shot of me popping a wheelie off the line, about to get eliminated by Eldredge.

Great event, I expect to hear a lot more about STOL Drag racing!

Pierre,

"Roger that". Good show Mate! The competition really was interesting. Kevin added a dimension that was badly needed. THE DIMENSION of TIME was a great idea!!

I am impressed that you got the gear switched after the amazing Alaska flight! You definitely are the guy to watch! Keep up the outstanding work (and pictures).

Re: PHOTO Thread - High Sierra Fly-in Oct 22-25 2015

Did anyone happen to get photos or video of the military jet fly by at HSF? I would like to include a clip of it in a short documentary of the event if you have it and are willing to share it.

Thanks,

Rich

Here are a few of my photos. I did not bring my good camera, these are just iPhone pictures.

Imagethe 170 is not much of a drag racer but it was fun to give it a go. Power to weight ratio makes a big difference.

We had a great time,

Thanks Kevin and all the others that put this event together.

Really good eye Alex. Some of your shots of desert patterns look like abstract paintings. The biggest difference is that I like your photography of patterns in the real world, but I'm not big on abstract art in general. I wonder why that is...
