Since moving to Minnesota, I've had the opportunity to shoot some really fun footage, both floats and skis. I fell in with a few locals who've given me some great fodder for the camera(s). The weakest link in the chain for getting some new content out is...me. Over the years I got too into my own head, and the editing, or rather, carving the story out of a mass of footage, became a real stumbling block and bottleneck. I convinced myself of quality over quantity so I kinda just stopped creating altogether, and focused on music, oddly. My synthesizer & guitar collection started growing. With no plane to fly, it's easier to look elsewhere, like quitting an old flame.
The blockage still remains, but I have big plans and need a kick in the pants. In a couple weeks, I'm going on a float flying trip with several guys and the plan is to film...a lot. To get those guys excited, I cut together two of my favorite shots from the last 2 seasons—my local buddies who fly a PA-18 and an Aeronca Chief. It's hosted on my secondary Youtube channel, Bad Axe Lens, an experimental video & drone channel, where less pressure exists because...I have no subscribers at all.
