Round engines...

I had a rough weekend, spent all day and night every day in the office trying to get my assignments done that were due today and tomorrow. Big ones.

I was smoked and overslept a little this morning. Not enough to be late but enough that it added to my stress level.

Right as I was reaching for the front door handle at the office, I hear this noise. This beautiful, ear-thundering racket.

So I stopped and turned around in time to see a T-28 climbing out off 24. I turned back around and walked in the door with a smile on my face.

I've got to get a round engine of my own one of these days :-).

For the unfamiliar, it sounded like this:

Re: Round engines...

I totally agree. I thought it would be cool to put a radial on a bearhawk but the dang things are just too heavy. Someday I'll find a way to own an airplane with a round engine.

Re: Round engines...

I totally agree, and I'm fortunate enough to have 1500 hours behind the R-985.

Not to add to your stress level but you guys need to hurry up, it's getting harder and harder to find a good overhaul on the old beasties. Now with Aero-Engines gone it'll be harder still.

There's a finite number of serviceable cranks and cylinder assemblies out there, it's only a matter of time...

I once bought a Stearman for $10,000 because of the Aero rebuilt 985 on it. The airplane wasn't worth much then.

Re: Round engines...

Those assignments can be rough...but they do end eventually. May not seem like it now, but it will be over in a flash. Plus you'll get to fly the round engines there:) Is the otter back up yet?

Re: Round engines...

It seems like it's already flying by... Didn't I just get here yesterday? Where'd the time go?!

The Otter's back up. Oldest airplane in the Navy. With an Army TM :-)
