Between the nickel leading edge and the hub there are a couple of chips through the gel coat. The nickel is holding up well with only one tiny dent.
This was essentially a new prop when loaned to me by my mechanic/prop dealer. Not anymore.
So those minor chips you basically backfill with resin only? Is that right?
Then, and serious cuts into the underlying fibre can be repaired with a resin and fibre repair (if any). I've watched videos on how to do that on Youtube, it looks easy to do yourself.
Nearly all are just through the outer gel coat (or paint layer if you will). Too many and not really necessary to fill. I only have a couple that have exposed the carbon fiber and those I will fill with resin and then sand.
I've seen a few prop strike blades here recently and was told that as long as something isn't actually broken off the blades are repairable back at the factory. Whirl Wind is a foam core blade so I can't say if the same would be true with a wood core.
The reason I'm still running the loaner is my mechanic/prop dealer somehow screwed up the prop balance during the reassemble and when I tried flying it the entire plane vibrated. I had him put the loaner back on till it gets fixed properly.
