Mr Rob might know. But I think there was some buzz about it on another thread somewhere here. If I had the money, I'd have me one. Just because I love them Bird Dogs!

The A model is powered by a 400hp Allison. It will cruise at 175mph, with a 1500# useful. With 60° flaps, a better tail than the recip 'dog, and a competent driver it will follow a 'light' C180 anywhere. If they were certified normal cat I would own one now... as it is, when retired if I could only own one airplane, this would be it. One of our neighbors owns one (as well as a beaver on wheels)... Some people have all the coolest planes

Take care, Rob

Spelling fail. I think you meant Rich Turbin, candidate for Honolulu city council.

Re: Suggestions for a Turbine Back Country

It seems once you are in the Super Cub size of back country planes /strips you might as well have a turbine helicopter instead of a turbine Cub. The range limitations, near vertical performance on the turbine Cub would be the same as the helicopter. As you start getting into the next size of aircraft / strips the turbine engine just starts to make an argument with the current issues of cost of engines, maint, fuel availability, dispatch reliability. Soloy turned out quite a few turbine 206s showing the viability. The larger the aircraft the better the argument for the turbine. My PT6-206 will not be fuel efficient which limits it range. It is being built for the skydiving mission were climb performance, low maint, and dispatch reliability will be it key benefits. My suggestion for a Turbine Back Country airplane The Tiger 206.

Re: Suggestions for a Turbine Back Country

My dream has always been a Cessna 336 push-pull with both engines tossed and a turbine up front and big suburban like barn doors on the back for cargo (kayaks) and sleeping.
