Texas STOL Roundup - 2014

I've already created this event in the new Community/Events And Fly-Ins section, but I'm posting it here as Zzz is still working on surfacing event announcements on the pages we use as our "home page". So let's try and get used to the new location by posting your status and comments where Zzz would like us to:

http://www.backcountrypilot.org/community/events/viewevent/84-texas-stol-roundup-2014

Once on the above page for more information click on the "Event Details" button which is right next to the "Recent Activities" button.

If you plan on coming click on the "Attend" button.

As I have more information about the event I'll post it on that page. Hope to see lots of you there.

(and yes, if Alaska thaws early enough the SQ-2 will be there)

I'm in Phil! How do I "sign up"?
I'm excited. Athough looking forward to something like this is a good way for something to break on my plane 2 days before. #-o

Awesome poster indeed Phil! Think I'm signed up now! Better get to practicing. :D
Shirts would be awesome to!! Any idea what they'd cost? I'm in for a few if it's doable.
Thanks again man. Let me know if anything I can do to help!

I'd buy a few shirts as well if we went that route.

Hey Phil. I'm thinking we might need to fly to a ton of airports and put out the posters. Ok ok, you twisted my arm, I'll volunteer. :P

Sometime next week I'll figure out what printer I want to use and get some posters underway, as well as find a T-shirt company.

Re: Texas STOL Roundup - 2014

Met with the T-shirt company today. Picked the shirts and ran an initial test print. Ordered three different shirts that I'll pick up next week, and run them through the wash to check shrinkage. Then the company will put up an ecommerce site where you can pick from a couple of different choices and place your order. I will also have some available at the event for purchase. So stay tuned.

Husky will be there. CubCrafters is hoping to be there (lean on them guys). Katmai might be there if they have nothing better to do (really? okay that's not their exact words but that's what they meant). I've reached out to Backcountry SuperCubs but haven't heard back yet. I'm sure Maule will be there. Anyone else I should contact that might be interested?

Mike Olson is bringing Cuzoom. Wayne Mackey will be there. The plan is for Randy Goza and I to bring my SQ-2 down from Alaska in late March, depending on the exact timing he may be able to stay for the event. For those of you who don't recognize these names they are all former Valdez Experimental Bush Class winners and a major part of what I'll call the STOL brain trust.

I told Mark from Avipro about it, he might show up with a Bearhawk of some sort.

Re: Texas STOL Roundup - 2014

The company that provides avgas for Llano is donating $100 worth of gas that we will award to whomever flew their plane the longest distance to the Texas STOL Roundup.

I'm also working on getting a discount on avgas price for everyone. Llano has some of the lowest priced avgas in the U.S., a discount of the regular price would be great.

How about whomever lands in the longest distance? I'd have that one in the bag!!!

That's very cool Phil, you're pretty good at this whole fly in thing.

Spoiler alert to those interested in the shirts..They look AWESOME. I should dig around and see if I have a picture from this weekend with you in the background, Phil.
