I think Luke knows of some.
We will be down with at least my super cub and a j3

Texas STOL Roundup - 2014

I'm back!

First, thanks for the hangar/coffee/overnight offers! Unfortunately nearly all were at a day's midpoint and I needed to get back for the Texas STOL Roundup.

So, do I get the $100 of free gas for bringing my plane the furthest?
Just kidding, I was bringing her home anyway.

Here is where the journey began. The prop color actually gives me a deep discount on my insurance due to increased safety.
Image
Okay, not really. My STOL prop was being painted and is now on a UPS truck headed this way.
This was Skip Stewart's two-blade that I borrowed. I had a hard time keeping the SQ-2 upright.
Image

Here I am nose to nose in Miles City Montana with Wayne Mackey's newest creation, the SQ-12. Three place with a baggage area a family of four could live in.

Re: Texas STOL Roundup - 2014

Fly-in had a great turnout, I heard just over 100 planes Saturday. Met some great folks, many from on here. Didnt get any pics of the planes for some reason but looked like Zane got some great footage. There were some really nice rides that showed up, especially the Maules!

Havin beers with BCP'ers

Phil's SQ2 had drool all over it!!!

Here's the runway on Thursday before everyone showed up. The left side was barreled off for parking and the right was where the contest was. I planned to get a shot with everyone there but didnt

Re: Texas STOL Roundup - 2014

Had a great time at the Roundup. Thanks to Phil, Jimmy, Scott and all the volunteers.

This was my first fly-in and it was great to put faces with BCP names. Just wish there there'd been more time to meet more of y'all.

Phil-

I had a great time as well. Jimmy and Randy put on a great show... thanks for that! It was a little hard to find the line.... I missed it too as well as quite a few others. The SQ-2 was amazing... but the Turbine Birddog was an elevator... absolutely incredible!

Hope you do it next year!

gunny

PS Could you please post the results in some way... I had to leave before they were announced and would like to know. Thanks!

Here are some pictures from Russell's camera. Pretty much all Maules during the competition, but some good stuff.
Thanks for putting those up Russell.

Re: Texas STOL Roundup - 2014

Looking at airplanes headed (kinda) at you through the viewfinder of a camera is always kinda weird. I flinched when I thought this gent was making a sudden heading change for my face, but it was just my imagination (I think.)

Re: Texas STOL Roundup - 2014

Are they going to post all the results of everyone's distances?

As soon as I get back over to Llano I'll get the results and post the top three finishers in each class. I know Zane will be posting some photos as will I, just need to catch up first.

Re: Texas STOL Roundup - 2014

Here is a little bit of iPhone video of the first group of Maules. The second plane is Ross McCrea, his second landing was shorter, but not on iPhone. There is also a clip of Leland Foster and Sean in the flour bombing. (Leland was the third plane landing.)

Tragically, ATXCitab (Hank Sasser) perished in a crash in August 2014. He was a great guy and will be missed. -Z
