Frankly, I wish I could buy something for my airplane like those tube mufflers in Europe. Not a big fan of huge noise, especially in the backcountry.

I couldn't disagree more! I personally find it one of the most irritating noises I've ever heard. Sure, go for it where you need to turn all that hp and backcountry swagger into performance to get out of a short strip. But when I hear some clown taking off from a 3000'+ sealed strip and deafening everyone in a 2 mile radius I feel like throwing a chock into their prop next time I see it idling on the ramp...
Courtesy dictates pulling the prop back a few rpm immediately after takeoff. Maybe it's the aeronautical equivalent of those muppets who drive their fully sik honda civics with the mean as doof doof pounding out
Perhaps this is not the right forum to air my views on this!!!![]()

You misunderstood me - I thought my comment might go over some heads. The uPpERcaSe/LowErcAsE font denotes sarcasm in some (fairly immature) parts of the Internet.
We’re in total agreement. I get steamed when I see people make this comment - and I see it all the time on Facebook. It’s like, no, dummy, that’s not the sweetest sound in the backcountry. That’s the sound of the hikers, river runners, and eco warriors lodging noise complaints and teeing off to the Forest Service on GA in the backcountry.
