Tundra Tire STC from Seaplanes North (Grove/Desser)
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
It's time for new tires, wheels and brakes for my '55 180. Any recent experience or info on the 10" grover and desser combo? Seaplanes North web site still says the 31" STC is pending. I need new brakes (wanna replace the single puck clevelands I have and and redo the hard/soft lines.
I'm still internally conflicted about going with the 10" ABW setup. I'd really like to be able to easily switch back and forth between the 8.50 and a 31" bushwheel or shaved tire.
Recent experience or opinions?
TIA

I went to Airframes 10 inch wheels and 8.50 x 10 tires over a year ago. Would do so again.

Why not buy a 6" AWB wheel & double-puck brake kit, and mount a set of 31" BW's.
Then mount some 850x6's on your old wheels (if applicable).
Then you have the ability to quickly swap them, depending on your mission.
FWIW I've heard people recommend 29" BW's for skywagons rather than 31's-
the larger tires have the potential for too much sidewall roll when used on a heavier airplane like a skywagon vs a cub.

Cessna Skywagon -- accept no substitute!
This is my current thinking - mounting the lightweight Aero Classic Smoothies.
Interesting that Beringer just today announced that the 180 STC was approved:

Not clear in the linked ad-- are they offering 10" mains?
The wheels in the ad pic don't look like 10".
"Available for Cessna 180-182
all models (including RG)" doesn't sound like 10" wheels either.
BTW I think those wheels are butt ugly.

dunno - called Beringer us and got voice mail which was returned with a message that says everyone is at Sun n Fun till the 12th so nobody can answer any questions.
I assumed they are 6" wheels since everyone in the experimental world using Beringers uses bushwheels

they are 6" wheels. I was inquiring for my 182, but they only offer a 5" front wheel with the kit.
