Twin Otter show

Kinda cheesebag 2000s-style reality TV, but some great Twin Otter ski flying footage.
Around the 11:45 mark, what is the lever mounted behind the yoke?

Would not have guessed this in 100 years. Haha thanks Mike.
Seemed like he was fiddling with it in flight. Maybe trying to align it so it’s not acting like a yaw trim?

Maybe being on skis it might tend to not stay centered in flight ? Either way probably a good idea to make sure that thing is pointed straight before landing!

When nose shock struts fully extend after becoming airborne they self center, at least every nose strut I’ve ever experienced does. If you’ve ever landed a Cessna trike with an over inflated strut you maybe have experienced no steering until there’s enough weight on the gear to compress the strut and allow it to turn.
Maybe the twotter has a different setup? Never worked on one so no experience there…

The Twotter on skis is a lot of fun.

I remember when the Smoke Jumper Twin Otter landed with the nose wheel turned at McCall ID. It was 25 years ago give or take and the plane departed the runway. I think I remember my friend who was a jumper saying the pilot lost his job.

Nice to see the local legends at Air Tindi and 440 Squadron get some screen time.
