I think my favorite part was that little bear that wandered into camp on saturday afternoon and slept around the campfire.

Bummed I could only make it Friday night, but so much fun! I forget how much BS'in can be done when a bunch of lying pilots get together.

I hope to drop by Lucas on Sunday. When is the next PNW fly in?

July 4th weekend I will in St Paul and want to fly over to Willamette international.

On a side note, Linda at Lucas Lodge pulled me aside on Sun. morning and told me, "you know your buddy that took the shower here yesterday, I said yes........she goes,....I'm so embarrassed...... I thought, Oh, God what did Rob do? Then she told me, there were no towels in the bathroom, and he didn't even say anything about it, I told her Rob can drip dry!" All is well! We are welcome back for next weekend. She said we are guaranteed to have towels! Great time had by all!!

Might also mention, there were some good stick and rudder skills and sound pilot judgment demonstrated at Lucas Lodge. The Lodge is a one way in, one way out strip, except for Tyler. The winds picked up both days. 12 -17 knots which translates to tail wind take off. Both Bryan and Rob/Stacey decided to put their dogs in other people's airplanes to lighten their load on takeoff. Good sound decision making! Not one person landed long or hot and had to roll out across the county road! Good job by all!!

And I had a buddy to fly home with! Titan had so much room she didn't know what to do with herself. Lucas Lodge was the highlight of my week! So fun! =D>

Looks like everyone had a good time, sorry we missed it.

Let's keep the early June tradition alive for next year.

Looks like I may have to exercise my wx permitting option, or not. It is going to be a last minute decision. The forecast is right on the edge of go no go. I have to be home by 12:30 Sunday. 1000-3000 ceilings in 1000-3500 terrain is #-o

I'm in a holding pattern now.

Cheers...Rob

Fresh squeezed strawberry lemonaid shine will be on ice!!
Also a Friday the 13th full moon!!!! Strawberry moon, hasn't happened in June on Friday the 13th since 1919.
Not sure what that means, except good times for certain! :)

I think we need to make this fly-in more popular. It is a great location!

Alex love the pics! Can you send that one of us to my username @ gmail.com?!

I agree this should def turn into an annual event @ powers. I mean it's got soooo much room for airplanes and it's a fun spot. Maybe next year we'll park at the north....maybe not haha I know the poison oak isn't fun but otherwise I love the spot of the fire pit and start of the runway. It's pleasent. Just watch for goat people!

And next year hopefully Tom Elam will be around, because if he is, he ups the fun level with his chicken smoker alone.

Re: Update: PNW Season Opener -Now with PICS!

YEE HAW! Having a blast. Small fly ins are the best!! 4 planes 9 friends. The wx was a challenge, which is fun. Could have cheated and gone IFR BUT HELL I want to be PIC. Off soon to breakfast and then jet boat ride. The dinner and camp fire last night was outstanding. As good as powers is Lucas is 100x better BED, HOT SHOWER AND AWESOME FOOD. BYOB IS OK. BYOB IS OK!!!! ImageImage
