UPDATED with lot of PHOTOS - Nor / Cal Fly-in

Weather is starting to get real nice. Getting a number of messages about another fly-in here in October.

Curious about what dates are BEST for folks?

Zane can you create a poll on this thread for either October 8, 9 or October 15, 16?

Once we get a feel for who can make it I will make it so.

We need to spend more time on our south circuit.

Re: Nor Cal / Sierra Fly-in - October

If you meant Oct 8-9 or Oct 15-16, either weekend works for me. Mon-Tues is a no-go...new quarter starts next Monday and I'll have class.

Re: Nor Cal / Sierra Fly-in - October

I feel a bit out on the fringe on this one, where will this event be held? I would love to attend if it’s on the week end of the 15Th, however I have a previous engagement for the weekend of the 8th.

If it's on the 15-16 I'll only be able to make it on the 15th. I go out of town on the 16th.

Re: Nor Cal / Sierra Fly-in - October

Rich Finkle and I would like to attend. Probably we will come up Friday night and camp at Truckee. I take it we can camp out near the south east corner of the air port. Is this correct? Also is it set for Oct 8-9? I hope we won't be looked to far down at, our tail wheels are in the front of the planes. Rich has replaced his plane with another C-205.
I have a C-182. Not sure which we will be in, maybe we will bring both.

Re: Nor Cal / Sierra Fly-in - October

We will have the glider port to ourselves.

Will post more details as time warrants but you can plan on camping there with no problem (Friday and Saturday night if you wish). Its actually a great spot. Last time we used the camp ground close by but this time we will use the actual grass at the glider port to camp with the fire pit as the glider port will be closed for the season. Very easy.

Nose draggers will be fine for both circuits. Would really like to spend more time on the south circuit as we have a lot of options for people to land both real high and low depending. Not to mention nose draggers. Folks should bring a fire arm if you have one and we can have a shooting gallery at the strip "3 shot gun shells and a pair of shoes". Thinking also about a flower bomb there or short field event...I dont know, we will get creative.

The hippies have burning man...thinking we should have "Burning pilot" ..obviously, not literally, but we could have one hell of a bonfire out there. Maybe even camp there on Saturday night. Most everyone last month said the same thing. We should camp here. So that is an option for Saturday night and can be determined at a later time. For those of you that have not been around here, trust me, your gonna like it. The more I think about it, we should camp at 3 SS & PS on Saturday night. The stars will be going off! You Oregon boys should come join us!!!

Thats all for now...
