Re: UPDATED OCT 8/9 Nor Cal Fly-in

As of now I am thinking this "Storm of ours" is very much over rated..Even more so for the eastern side of the Sierra's.

Sounds like we have between 15 and 20 planes coming. Weather this evening is still looking like high pressure building in on Thursday late through the weekend.

Yes, if not camping Friday night, you can leave gear in my hanger on Saturday and grab it prior to departure in the afternoon bound for camp. I will also be taking some things to the desert on Friday and will verify conditions out there. Regardless, in the event things are wet, we have lots of options out there that are not lake beds.

Looking forward to seeing you

Kevin
I will be at TRK Friday night and would like to do at least some of the circuit Sat morning. I have a 172SP with long pants. Let me know if you need me to pick anything up at store.

Also, if anyone needs to store stuff in my hangar I'm in F4, and if anyone doesn't want to camp Fri. night I have room in the house.

Re: UPDATED OCT 8/9 Nor Cal Fly-in

Oh Man! We got snow here up high for certain here on the crest of the Sierra's....photos the next day or so will be all time! The desert did not get that much and most of our spots will be GOOD TO GO!!!

The north circuit will be great as its mostly ranches and roads. The south will be great as it did not see as much moisture~! I will be going that way tomorrow for the sake of looking...

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

**If you arrive FRIDAY just go to the glider port and set up your camp as you see fit. We have the entire place to ourselves. Personally, I would put my tent by the fire pit.

If I dont see you (odds are I will) on Friday, I look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday morning at the EAA building. Pre flight debrief at 830am sharp! If for some reason we have fog here at KTRK on Saturday morning, we will wait here until its burns off. Hoping that Fridays day time temp temps will negate the Sat morning fog.

Looking like we have close to 20 planes flying in!

Re: UPDATED OCT 8/9 Nor Cal Fly-in

Hey AKT:

Kept my eye on the WX this am and it looks like KTRK went legal VFR around 0930 Local this morning. TAF published for tomorrow am is calling for a repeat performance. I'll bet everyone staying tonight will be itching to launch tomorrow just as soon as it breaks open, is there some Plan B rendezvous spot either on the ground or in the air we can meet you at in case we can't get in until everyone is ready to leave?

Thanks,
Flynengr

Re: UPDATED OCT 8/9 Nor Cal Fly-in

Ww will see what the morning brings but in the event of fog we will wait for folks to arrive. Will plan for a 10 am departure if weather is foggy. It cleared this am about 845. Honestly with todays warm temps and dry air, it may be non existent in the am. If anyone is later than that drop your gear at the glider port and fly north 10 minutes to the Sierra valley. We will be on 124.20...thats what we refer to as "Company".

That's a great plan. I will pack the plane tonight and plan to make it in for the EAA breakfast, WX permitting.

Thanks!

Re: UPDATED OCT 8/9 Nor Cal Fly-in

We will miss you guys!

6 planes tonight and a whole bunch arriving the AM. Saturdays camp site is looking real nice. Had to run the circuits today in order to see how much precip we really received. I can say in confidence the desert is in great shape and our lake bed could not be in better shape! Heck its great for 600's.

Here are few photos from todays run around.
Saturdays camp site: "3 shot gun shells and a pair of shoes" - South Circuit

Re: UPDATED OCT 7th PHOTOS - Nor / Cal Fly-in

Beautiful morning here in Truckee. Fog is already burning off except at the airport. Should be good to go around 930 or so...we have cool temps to fly all day. In no hurry. We will wait for you to arrive. Sierraville or Nervino are good options to hold if need be. See ya soon!

UPDATED OCT 7th PHOTOS - Nor / Cal Fly-in

What, no updates from TSGSAAPOS? Thats three shot gun shells and a pair of shoes. Probably no cell service or too much campfire drinking.
