Re: What should I buy?

This one sold fairly recently for well under 100k: https://www.trade-a-plane.com/search?ca ... e=aircraft

I see examples like this regularly.

But like everything these days, the prices are rising.

If you are like me, you may talk yourself up a bit in budget if you perceive that what you are getting for the extra cash is a lot more airplane.

This is quite a bit more than your stated budget, but is a super sweet looking ride: https://www.controller.com/listing/for- ... e-aircraft

If you watch a while, you will see decent huskies come up for between 90-130k.

Re: What should I buy?

Thanks again for all the discussion.

Adding HP to the pacer is a real option (as several have mentioned). It would help equalize the landing and takeoff performance. It's not a small project, but it helps that it's a rough plane so a few more fabric patches are not a big deal. You have to mod the fuel system for the O-360.

I regularly operate out of 600ft, as long as the departure is clear. Not Greg Miller flying by any measure. I only have 300 hours of TW so I'm sure there are techniques I have yet to learn.

The plane has the Crosswind STOL kit (cuff, stall fences, gap seals, extended wings, droop tips), a climb prop (pitched to 55), baby bush wheel, and the GY26 tires.

I'll keep an eye out for a Huskey. The current crop on Barnstormers are hovering around $300K, so I won't hold my breath on that one. I have lead on a PA-12 with every mod I've heard heard. We'll see where that goes.

I remember quite some time ago Joecub making comment in a thread that he'd take a Scout over a Husky any day. I remember I was quite surprised by that because he's not a terribly big man (I could see XXL people liking the wide body better), and at least on paper the Husky specs looked sooo much better.

Of course that was a few wing styles ago for the Husky, and probably a rendition or so ago on the Scout, so who knows today?

If I remember right, at the time he was doing Super Scout check outs, and probably had as much quality Husky and Cub time as a person could get.

That comment always had me wondering if they weren't a better 'tweener (cub to C180) than a Husky or a Maule. Just looking out ahead...

Take care, Rob

Re: What should I buy?

Having owned a tricked out Super Cub, Citabria, Arctic Tern, Husky and my dad had a Scout so I flew it. I would hands down pick the Husky. I’m so convinced in my beliefs I bought a replacement Husky after I sold my first one. I could have chosen any airplane and I chose another Husky. Just my opinion.

That smarts a bit. I bought dogecoin a year ago to buy my tricked out supercub. Instead of gaining the 10000% I needed it has dropped 75%.
