Wheel Pants for 8.50 tires
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
IdahoKid here. Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes wheel pants for 8.50 tires --either Goodyear (21") or Desser (22") ? I don't want to re-invent the wheel and make some from scratch because I don't have a mold and would rather buy pre-made by a manufacturer.
I formerly lived in Idaho and flew to many of the backcountry strips. Now I live in the MidWest with a plan to fly to Idaho in a fast cross country plane that is back country capable. I am building a Glasair Sportsman so I can use any design for the wheelpants.
I know most people including me with my old C 170 fly without wheel pants to the back country. My goals is to spend less time flying to Idaho and more time enjoying the back country strips. So 8.50 tires with wheel pants seems like I can have both speed for cross country and STOL for backcountry. The one thing I have not found are wheel pants.

I'm not convinced most wheel panties do much for speed,
esp if they're "plus-sized" to fit over 850's.

Cessna Skywagon -- accept no substitute!
There was an old thread on this site that covered your topic. One of the best recommendations for 8.50 tires was to use "spats". Maule used to sell them. They seem to offer the best of both worlds. Open the thread and then scroll down for pictures of the wheel spat that just tapers the back of the tire to reduce drag.
