Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Where did you fly today?

Hi M6,
Been weathered in and outta fuel at Scoop before. Top notch folks for sure! Being the nomadic sort, I have no idea where I'm headed or for how long, just gotta be back in time to spray corn ;)

Saw an incredible sight north of Teslin, flying treetop to the mountains we spied a nice band of Stone sheep. One straggler that was gimpy. As we circled to check out the straggler we caught a brownie working up hill on it. Had it not been for episs and flight plans we'd have loitered long enough to watch the drama unfold...

Stopped in at a friends on the Klutina, he owns a fish camp / charter. My sweetheart loves Reds, so I watched while she and Reagan fished:

And of course, I get the fish removing honors :(
Image
And what would a touristy trip be without the obligatory fish wheels and eagles (my sweeties first northern travels)

Image
Salmon were slow, so we headed south and west for trout, of course the good looking ones fished and I tended...

Lake was cold, and trout fishing wasn't spectacular, so off to AKT's neck of the woods for dinner. With a few stops on the way.

God bless airplanes, how else can a guy do salmon in the interior, trout in the Wrangells, and dinner on the coast?

See ya, Rob

Re: Where did you fly today?

Spent a few lovely days at Moose Creek and Shearer with my son. Did some fly fishing, made S'mores and just had an all-round great time. I'm a pretty lucky guy. :D

I bet you he will remember that trip his whole life. Nothing better then having great trips like that with the kids. Do enough of then and it will make it hard for him to not want to become a pilot.

Where did you fly today?

gb, got the #, and if the Wx gods play right, I'll ring you up. BT, I like your thinking ;)

Valdez was good, but flying w calling, so we blasted over Dan creek and Nizinas... All looked quite ? So we motored on up to McCarthy where another friend flies
Image
Unfortunately he was no where to be found either, so up to Kennicot we went...
Image
Image
Image
Then back to smoked salmon for lunch.... Yum
Image
After lunch, and weary of poor fishing Wx we blasted off for Chelle lake.
Looked slot better than it did when it ate a certain troopers cub ;) wish I had the cub, landing down by the cabin would be a lot nicer than up at the strip... Just a wee too tight for the 180...
Image
Image
Image
Wind is obnoxious here... So off to Paxon, Summit, and the others...
Why my sweetheart wants to get spool close to the big cities is beyond me?
Image
As expected, The summit lakes blow....and then it all becomes clear...
Can we go to Santy Clause' house she says.... Golly you'd think I brought my daughter...
Try as I might to avoid the big cities, Anch and FAI both get swindled on me :(.... And off to santas we go....
Image

Reagan's had enough and wants a warm shower too.... Tomorrow we blow this city stuff....

Take care, Rob

Re: Where did you fly today?

Hi M6,
Sent you a PM.

BTW, on the way up to FAI we stopped in on the strip on the east end of Klutina the lake. Big thanks to whoever cleared back the brush =D> ... With a little side stepping over the river (that was not possible before), what used to be a marginal cub strip is now very doable in a 180 8)

Take care, Rob

Re: Where did you fly today?

Rob, if you have a comprehensive enough trip report, I'd ask that you make your own thread in Trip Reports. "Where did you fly today" is sort of a bulletin of less involved trips, whereas yours seems epic enough to be its own thread. Otherwise, it'll be buried.
