Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

It's been a while since we've flown anywhere so we decided to load up and head out to Willows for breakfast and then Gravelly Valley to let Tieton chase some sticks and play in the water.

Not sure if this would be better here or the "Landing on roads" thread.

That was fun to watch. Is that what's called an abrupt shoulder at 0:44?

Nice work S-12. You're obviously getting the hang of that S-7!

Re: Where did you fly today?

That looks like a fairly typical day here at Mack Mesa airport and gun range except most of us just wear Carharts. :P

I still have a long way to go but I'm feeling more comfortable in it.
While I don't recommend the practice for everyone, it is great for getting used to flying cross controlled and tracking down a strip in a cross wind. There are so many long smooth roads out here in the desert that it is easy to find one with a cross wind.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Yesterday's flight was nothing special, Auburn (KAUN) to Lodi (1O3) and back. The good part was having breakfast with my dad to celebrate his 84th birthday. Dad flew for 50 years until he decided one day to, as he put it, "Hang it up before I have a senior moment and do something dumb." He still likes to talk airplanes and I try to get down to Lodi as often as I can.

Spending time with dads, it is about the coolest thing I can think of and do. Mine is about the same age. I now fly with my boy who is 11. Blackrock got to meet them all the other day. Family, nothing better.

Rob -
The best word to describe the 180 project is: Sssssslllllloooooowwwww.
Hopefully, I will get the wings into the paint booth this weekend.
Then it will be time to start the re-assembly.

My dad and I flew out to Dirty Devil and Happy Canyon this morning to get some petrified wood. Great day in Southern Utah!

Tried to catch up with Joey and Rob on the way to columbia (O22) but they beat me by a few minutes! At least I got to sleep in! There where several others there as well.

Sadly I had to Bug out due to work and to get a little extra gas. I got back and the airplane was plastered with bugs  I can't go around them like Joey!

Re: Where did you fly today?

It was good to get out for some low and slow flying with fellow BCPers! We started off with breakfast at Patty's Shack in Columbia then from there it was out into the hills for some fun!

Nothing better than flying on your birthday, happy birthday Joey!

Found a nice field to land in

Had to land here and let some air out of the bushwheels down to min psi after the last landingImage

This was a fun 1300 foot strip, its 500ft uphill to the hangar, then a dogleg to the right and downhill for 800ft. We all got in and out of the 500ft section with room to spare. Thanks to Jim for letting us land!
