Here you go:

(Just copy the "hyjUkPToMnM" part).

Edit: Now you need to log into youtube and change the setting from private to allow us to view it. It took me a long time to figure this stuff out too, but it's not that bad once you get it!

Still private. In video manager, click the little lock icon, and choose "public unlisted" or something to that effect. Then Save.

Re: Where did you fly today?

After a visit to the Moms yesterday, this morning I left Modesto and headed to Lodi for breakfast. After a omelette and too much coffee I meandered south toward King City.

Enroute I found an aircraft that my cub can actually pass...

Later landed near an undisclosed body of water to rid myself of the aforementioned coffee...

Re: Where did you fly today?

On saturday I was able to make it out to Pacific City to play around and practice some landings. I've been experimenting with a strange little camera called the "808" http://www.chucklohr.com/808/index.shtml.

I thought that I had a great idea velcro-ing it to the ceiling of the 172, but it was a really terrible angle. I had to crop the video because it was almost half ceiling... I'm still working on learning the tricks to get great video like those that have been posted here. I've made not-so-subtle hints about wanting a GoPro for my birthday. :)

Anyway, here's the video.

btw, I'm sure the red and white maule at the threshold of 32 is someones on BCP, but I can't remember who.

Cool!

I'll have to look for the pictures but I came across the Direct TV blimp about 2 years ago on a maintenance flight. We circled around (wide berth!), waved, and went on our business.

Shot over to Powers, Oregon this AM. 6S6. What a great strip to get myself comfortable with "closer" terrain. Just as I went to turn on the GoPro I realized I forgot the SD card so no video.

Cool! I was strongly considering playing hooky from work this morning and heading over there too. Looks like the grass is is cut and in great shape!

So the grass was only mowed around the hangar. It is about 4-6 inches long. I was informed that this weekend they will be mowing and grading the strip. It looks like some little "A-Holes" have been doing hot laps on the north end of the runway.

All in all it was in great shape and my 600's handled it fine.

Re: Where did you fly today?

This wasn't where I flew today but it was recently and I finally found the time to sit down and do a quick write up on the trip. As some of you may recall I sold the Clipper (PA-16) at the end of last year and have been in the process of looking for something that my flying partner and I could replace it with. I miss the Clipper because it was a blast to fly and I rebuilt it in my shop at home which seemed to create a bit of a bond with the aircraft! That being said, my flying partner didn't like it and didn't fly it so we agreed to sell it and find something that fit the bill a little better for him. Our partnership includes his 180 so we weren't without a flying bird in the meantime :D .

The search resulted in a lot of time spent on Barnstormers and the like, then making phone calls and asking questions, then discussing with each other whether or not to pursue a particular airplane. In the end I found where his heart lies and I couldn't be happier with the decision. We ended up with a Citabria 7GCAA. It's 150hp with low time on the engine and high time on the airframe (a retired power line patroller). It's a '79 but was completely rebuilt in 2007 down to the frame with factory new everything (wood, seats, interior, metalized wings installed at the factory, etc.). It was only on Barnstormer's for a week before we snagged it up!

So three of us headed south from Central Oregon down to Santa Ynez, CA (IZA) after our due diligence to pick it up. The location of the airplane was nice because I grew up down there and my family lives 20 minutes away so we stayed the night with them and had a great time. If you can believe it, we had a tailwind down and a tailwind back!! 177kts GS on the G430 on the way down at one point!! The route was S39-WLW-IZA and reverse for the trip home.

I'm still getting used to the airplane but it's really nice to fly and is quite a performer! Here are some pics.

Here's Paulina Peak with East Lake in the foreground and Paulina Lake in the back:

Re: Where did you fly today?

I'm going out to Kingsley's when the fog lifts. I won't have my eyes closed, but I will pay attention to what the airplane wants to do.
