Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Yes sir I am. Heading to school in a couple weeks.[/quote]

I thought I recognized the hanger. You are very fortunate to be learning from Josef. He is a true a craftsman and a gentleman. Josef looked after some of our aircraft for several years. He has rebuilt 2 different Scouts for me. I still have one of them. It gets compliments on the workmanship every time I have it out. Tell him Rod says hello. I will try to stop in and visit next time we are down that way.

It would be great to meet you! I feel very fortunate to be learning from him. He is a great teacher, and as you said a true craftsman. We were just talking about the Scouts he built for you the other day.
I will let him know you say hi. If we are ever up that way we'll have to stop in.

Absolutely, you are welcome anytime.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Lately, I've been frustrated by conversations of problems and no real action. Today, I decided to stand up and fix some things.

I've seen Facebook rumblings from the local bike club about palm fronds laying in the road. Does anyone stop to move them or pick them up? Not until this morning. I cleaned the crap out of Pinellas roads. I was only able to find two, but those suckers are totally out of the way.

Zika: that sum-bitch is now being contracted locally. Sit around and watch? Not today. I used my 100LL powered Zika eliminator to eradicate two wings and a cowling worth of mosquitos. Thankfully, I had some plane perfect wing wipe ready to disinfect the kill zones. I'm ready to tackle tomorrow's cause.

You're welcome.

Re: Where did you fly today?

They should really put a bounty on mosquitos to help us cover the costs we incur while performing selfless community service. I would even be willing to put some of the money toward a more effective mosquito eradicator and a private launching facility.

Re: Where did you fly today?

How about a bounty on grasshoppers? I think I got a couple-dozen on my last flight... Their "remnants" have managed to get into some interesting places on my airplanes. Had one jam my stall warning switch on a Grumman Traveler once - in flight - on a cross-country. Just a couple of days ago, managed to get a grasshopper leg stuck between the little clear snap-vent and the fuselage. Not to mention all the big yellow and green "splat marks" on the leading edge and struts... I hate those things!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Had to head out to Norfolk - caught in Hurricane, slept on floor at Atlanta after diverting to Knoxville and missing connections. :?

Will say though, the holding pattern was like a Nascar track. There were airplanes all over the place. 8) Very cool sight - iPhone didn't pick it up.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Backcountry South Cariboo/Chilcotin, near Taseko Lakes.

Ya, forgot the stove and had to improvise. Frost on the plane when I got up -should have parked it with the wings towards the morning sun.

Then checked out some terminal moraine on the way home.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I flew over Colorado today, twice. Aspen's are full of color, amazing view even from 37,000. You Rockies guys and gals need to get out flying for some great color. I was wishing I was much much lower!

Re: Where did you fly today?

BRD, thanks for posting such nice pictures. One request if I may, would you please put the name of the lakes and places in your picture captions? I like getting the map out and locating the great places you are flying around taking pictures. Love looking at your pictures on a rainy day or before bed! Thanks! Keep em coming!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Hi Kurt,

The lakes you were seeing in the past few series are of the Whitefish lake chain, the Gull lake chain and lakes east and north of there. Basically the Brainerd Lakes area.

Image

Also a series from Leech lake (Walker area) and up to Lake of the Woods.
