Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Went into Grasshopper for the first time today and put down on two of the three strips I saw. Much better weather on that side of the mountains - glad I went!

Fourth of July in the Happiest Place On Earth, Johnson Creek, Idaho.

Bike ride up to Riordan Lake. Super difficult dangerour rocky climb. Not recommended if you are not a strong rider and have a strong heart at 6500+ feet.

Riding to the hot springs. Not so easy either ;-)

Hells Canyon

Fourth of July parade, Yellowpine style!

The Maule in repose.

Riding to the gold mine.

Packed to the gills.

Looks like you had fun Bill....great pictures! I flew the family up to Orcas for the weekend to spend it with my Dad, came back yesterday.

We need to catch up somewhere again one of these days.

Orcas Island is another favorite place. Great for bicycles. Because I'm a VFR only puke the weather makes or breaks it for me as a destination sometimes.

Look forward to meeting up again this summer God willing.

I'd suggest Cavanaugh Bay but bummer is the resort I hear is closed.

I was there last night. Haven't landed in this spot for a long time but it's always exciting with the big rock coming at ya.

That one looks like it was a little further down-valley than the two I landed at. Looks like I need to do some more exploring! I was up there last night as well, but was over towards Lake George instead.

"Alone In The Wilderness"- good stuff.
The local PBS station shows it about once a year during a fund-raiser.
I think I read somewhere that area is now part of a state / national park.
Does anyone live in the cabin now?

Dick donated everything to Lake Clark National Park. It's setup as if he was still residing there and is manged by volunteer Park Rangers.

Re: Where did you fly today?

And it flies even better than it did before! That surprised me as it was good before. Dan also balanced the engine/prop really well, smoothest 4 banger I've ever flown. (H.O. aircraft at ANE did the restoration)

Re: Where did you fly today?

Made a quick trip into the Wrangells in the past couple days. I intended to stay longer, but got chased out by the growing Steamboat Creek fire. Clear day when I got there, but within two hours on the ground the visibility deteriorated rapidly. I didn't want to deal with getting stuck for an unknown length of time, so I chalked this one up to making me want to visit again as soon as possible.
