Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

That's a pretty fair assesment. Should be no problem for most backcountry pilots and decent planes. With the 170b we used less than half of the runway for take-off or landing, so picking a spot that looks solid was pretty easy. Have fun!

Today before my class I took my friend up and went flying. He is going to start he's flight training soon and this was also to give him a little extra push. Well it worked. We took off for CHD and I was headed for E81 in Superior, AZ there is a dirt strip there that I just wanted to touch down on and it got better. I was a little hesitant to go that way because it was a little hazy but we went on. I also didn't know if I wanted to touch down ether because the A/FD said there were large rocks on the field. We got closer and it just looked better and better then flew over at around 200ft and I didn't see any rocks so we circled around for a touch and go. (didn't have the money to stop) I floated a little long but made it down and up. I was so excited I forgot to tell my friend to record it. so the picture below it at the take-off you can see the field in the back ground. The most thrilling landing I've made since I started flying.

Flew out to Graham on Friday with my wife for a overnight. Weather was supposed to be crappy but we decided to go anyways. Took enough stuff to stay for a few days if we had to. Had to land downstream cause of some wind but no big deal. Just like predicted it rained all night and most of the day Saturday. Bout 10am it quite long enough to get out of the tent and cook breakfast then it started again. About 2 it cleared enough we thought we'd try getting back to Nampa and were successful. A pretty good downpour came right as we were landing and I got soaked tying down the plane and unloading the stuff. We enjoyed the trip...rain and all.

Flying in the rain can be fun. It also gets all the bugs softened up.

If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.

Today I flew to N86, a dirt strip north of Reno. Had a visit with the airport manager, bought some 100LL, and flew back to Minden with a wheelie touch and go at KRNO. Bumper, where did you fly to today???

Did the VFR transition over Sky Harbor.

Made a big loop on the east side of the valley back to Chandler and ate breakfast there.

All and all she liked it. :D Didn't even get sick but did say hear ears didn't clear. We only got up to 4500 I don't know.:-k She got a stuffy nose on the flight too. I scuba dive too and I've heard of some pills that can help the swelling in the ears and help them clear. Has any on experience with this or have any suggestions?

I believe that John and Diane Walkup still own the outfit. Very professional staff; planes include: Super Cubs, Pitts, Great Lakes, etc. with aerobatic instruction for all levels. They had several Huskys too. I even saw the "new" Monocoupe there a few years ago which I believe was thought out by Aviat?

Well, I didn't break anything. Something didn't feel right in the pattern so after some frustration and botched landings I flew south to see what was goin on. I think there is water in my pitot line....ASI is way off. Indicated stall speed was 65...used to be 54 and the ASI is sluggish and indicated 40 when I stopped on the ramp but settled to 0 after a while.

Flew KSUS(Spirit of St. Louis) to KSLN(Salina Ks) and back,

It was a volunteer trip in a C-206 for a Humanitarian organization called Wings of Hope. We carry needy patients/persons to and from their homes and hospitals....all for free.

Our passenger today was a 17 month old baby boy with "club feet" and significant "birth defects" The little guy snoozed most of the way as the volunteer Doctor watched over him.

In 40 years of professional aviation I have flown Rock Stars, Presidental Candidates: the rich and famous as well as ordinary airline passengers. Volunteer, humanitarian, flying is the most meaningful of my career.

Nice to be retired and still able to contribute, in a small way, to our fellow man.

Now....cannot wait until next summer to return in our Maule for more Idaho/Montana/Utah backcountry flying. :)

Troutdale east through the Columbia River Gorge under a 3000 AGL OVC, then south at Hood River to Madras. 95% sun. Lunch, then 9 holes of golf. My old boss from a different fire station went with me. Left the M7 at the Madras FBO so they can finish some paint work. Very nice day.

I read the tutorial on posting photos. I was successful in uploading them to my gallery/album 10_15_08 but as you can see I got confused about uploading them. Maybe someone can do it for me or give me a hint. There are 6 photos of the farm country around here and one of my Kitfox.

Thursday, did the "water tour" to the four resevoirs that provide our water - Lake Waurika, Lake ELlsworth, Lake Latonka, and Tom Sneed. Flew through the Wichita Mountains at 1000' AGL. They're not big mountains, but they're all we have around here. At least I was below the tops on both sides going saddle-to-saddle (I will not call them passes). Yesterday went X-C to Mineral Wells, TX and back. Today is Boy Scout merit badge counseling (radio this time) and then I'll at least get some pattern time in for a while.

4.8 hours in two days - not a bad way to live.
