Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Glen has been a good buddy of mine for nearly 30 years. His dad flew and he has some time as well but no certificate. He's a big motor head.

What an odd small wonderful world we live in.

As a kid growing up in the northeast, pre-internet, via good ol' VHS/Betamax bootleg copies, I completely idolized Mr Plake and his abilities from afar. Then, in a completely different world all together he pops up in this thread, next to a Cub of all things.

I love it!

South of Spanish Fork, UT near the Mt. Nebo wilderness area.

I'm from the East Coast flatlands, in SLC for a couple of months, so even if this isn't the backcountry flying some of you do, it is close enough for me at the moment.

Especially in a Cherokee 140.

Hey. You need to get in touch with the Patey brothers or Allen Macbean. Have them take you flying. Or come up to Ogden and I’ll show you around. If that’s your plane, you should head up to Idaho. I’m at Smiley Creek now. I’m sure someone would be happy to show you around.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Hi Kurt,

The are my "go to" lakes for a quick half hour tour with relatives and friends. So you see Wise Lake, (BIR racetrack), North Long Lake, Round Lake, Gull Lake and Nisswa Lake (last one) in those pics.

I usually hit Gull channels, Agate, Edna, Roy, Bass, Upper Gull, Spider, Twin lakes, Hubert and the 3 Cullens too. Sometimes Pelican, Edward and the Whitefish chain if feeling ambitious.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, it's not my plane.

I'll PM you.

Thanks Brad! Do you ever get up to Vermilion area? I would love to see some pics of that lake. My grandfather was from Cook before he went to Alaska in the early 20's.

For all the places we've crossed paths (out of phase), Cook is a fave. Mostly because my friend Russ lives there and he treated me to my first taste of float flying on Vermillion.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Re: Where did you fly today?

I used to spend more time up that away, mainly in winter. One of these days I need to fly it with Zane during his biannual trip to this neck of the woods.

Yes those are great. One resides on a lake not far from my place.
