Where did you fly today?
Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Zane,
What does that red and white Beaver behind your kiddos have for a motor?
It looks like it has an extended nose.

I'm thankful for less people, beautiful colors, and ready for the season to wind down, but the flying gets harder. I always end up fueling out of jugs more in September than the rest of the season combined. Normally in the cold rain. At least this group wasn't hunting - non-resident hunters are 100% my least favorite groups.

Is that the Stinson L10 or whatever? Neat looking bird.
1941 Stinson 10-A. An old bird still making money.

That's the extended engine mount STC. Simply helps with CG since many beavers cabins/baggage are extended aft into the tail significantly more than originally designed.

How does it fly with 1 or 2 people and gas? Is it out of forward CG? Seems like a great mod for aft loading.

Kurt, you should go by the Tower airport and talk to Brian. He and Lori live in their hangar at the airport. They will probably be taking the planes to Florida again in October. I have quite a few hours in their 185 and he even let me fly a PA 12 by myself in Florida years ago.

Thanks for the tip Marty, I think I will do that. I too have a lot of 185 time, that is what I learned to fly in as a teenager. Have owned a couple on floats and wheels. It would be fun to chat with Brian.

Thanks guys, just got lucky. But that’s the magic of flying isn’t it! BRD always like your stuff too. Looks like a float plane paradise.

Bar hopping the Fraser. Not a lot of animal tracks, maybe when it gets colder.

A year or so ago I made a 100 page Motif photo book of some of my favorite images from flying the Brainerd Lakes Area through 2021. If anyone wants to download it, here's the wetransfer link - it'll be up for a week.

Took two of my granddaughters up today and it was clear enough to see the Rockies the Sweet Grass Hills the Bear Paws, Bench Hills, Cypress Hills and the Great Sand Hills. Good visibility on sunny cool winter days on the prairie.
