Re: Your Foreflight Wish List

Asked Foreflight yesterday how our requests are coming.

"Hey Phil,

You hit the nail on the head with your discussion of timing with the group.

As you know, ForeFlight prefers not to pre-announce enhancements, but I can tell you that your requests have been shared with the appropriate teams, all of whom are working on some big improvements to ForeFlight.

Any thoughts on Logbook from the backcountry folks?"

Awesome! I really look forward to offline high res terrain and topo overlays or maps instead of the low res vfr charts.

I don't use the log book feature as I'm not a plus subscriber and I just signed up for a 3 year deal with log ten pro for a decent chunk of change. I wish the had pre announced it I would have held out for the new log book feature as everything else is j reheated well within foreflight which is now my only EFB.

I would still like a performance calculators to go in foreflight to help with density alt and takeoff landing calcs. Would go nice with checklists.

They are getting too focused on ifr and corp pilots. There is a weather section that I've never even heard of. What is that in airport details between meters and tafs? I think they call it a MOR? Never heard of it.

Also should really be getting Mogas prices as an overlay to go beside 100ll by now.

Awesome! Can't wait to see what this next update has in it. I just got the message today.

As for the logbook, I've not used it but am considering it. I've been with Logbook pro and am hesitant to switch. I wish they would allow a free month or two trial so I could test drive it. My logbook pro subscription ends in August and I'd love to run them side by side for a while to see if it would work with me using it for my job. Also, I need to know it will be around. I may just have to renew logbook pro and kick this down the road for a year.

As for the weather stuff, thanks for asking! It prompted me to go google what it is. Here is the answer from the FF blog.

Now that I know what it is, it actually sounds useful. I have liked the discussion tab. Particularly helpful when flying outside of my normal area.

I'll second the performance stuff. That was one of my top requests.

+1 Bread crumbs would be GREAT for a wole lot of applications, from fire patrols to surveys and on to SAR! We've already got flight recorder options, so Llowing real time bread crumbs behinf the aircraft shouldn't be insurmountable.

I don't use Foreflight's logbook. If for any reason you have a lapse in your subscription your lod, plus your pdf document library. And anything else you've built into the app... Like w&B for your work and play airframes... Disappears.

I use paper and Microsoft Excel for my logs, excell and also another app that doesn't require an expexsive annual subscription for my W&B, and a free program for my pdf library.

In order to get the discount offered to my company, I have to let the subscription lapse and have never had an issue losing anything. I never let it lapse by much, usually renew the next day. So it may depend on by how much you let it lapse.
