DrifterDrivers HSF adventure thread

Well the time has finally come. For me the HSF adventure starts here! In the next few hours I will be leaving the bush and making my way for Brisbane ready to fly across the pond for the experience of a life time!

I thought I would start a thread to share my journey and adventure with you guys. Many of you I hope to meet along the way. I know there isn't alot to share just now but I thought I would get the thread up and going while I still have access to a PC

However I must admit, without even leaving my local area one particularly special thing has arisen and I have so Incredibly many of you to thank. It was a special experience and a credit to the great bunch of fellas you all are.

As alot of you know I was originally going to the HSF with Rob (Rob56W), Justin (dudesickle) Being my back up. Unfortunately both those guys found they had engine issues. The wonderful joys of aviation is if its going to go wrong, its always at the worst possible time! even though I always had the back up of just hiring a car and driving to the HSF, before both these guys even took a moment to think about how they may be able to get to the HSF they bent over backwards to find a way I could have the opportunity to fly in. They even Offered to drive me out there personally, but there was no need as within the hour I had honestly a good 30 offers of people offering to take me in. Darin (Ranchpilot) even offered to drop his gear off at site, and where ever in the states I was, come and get me to make sure I don't miss out. Emmet (Emflys) however has very kindly offered me a seat in his newly acquired 180 and to top things off, Is not only bringing me food, water and camping gear, but is also insisting on paying for my flight from LA to Sacramento! This of course we will be having words about as I tend to disagree!

The generosity of everyone has been incredible so before I even walk through my door to begin my adventure I want to say thank you to everyone for already making this an amazing experience and I look forward to saying Gday, and shaking the hands of as many of you as possible! If you are going to be at Dead Cow, be sure to come find me! Ill be the one talking funny!

I'm also making a video log as a feature for BCP. I want to get meeting and flying with all of you on there if I can. So if you get greeted by my camera before my hand, thats why. if you don't want to be in the video, tell me to piss off! it will look great in the final cut

Timbo,

Was that the Airport Motel in Brissy? I remember they have great rice pilaf and good shuttle service to the airport.

Re: DrifterDrivers HSF adventure thread

Well ive just about got arthritis from all the thumb twidling at the airport but Im finally boarding in about half an hour on plane one of the journey! Im lucky enough to have the 747 "longreach" as my aircraft.

Longreach is the qantas flag ship as longreach is the outback town the company started. The original longreach 747 200 is now the main exhibit at the towns air mueseum (its worth you tubing the story of getting the aircraft in there as its by no means a big airport and theres great shots of it kicking up red dust as it taxied)

Always a good feeling!

I rekon emflys is due for a bit of a thankyou gift! Now to find a forklift......

Re: DrifterDrivers HSF adventure thread

Since I won't be able to cruise up and visit you in person (your flight and mine would have taken about the same amount of time, granted, mine because I would be in a Maule!), I wanted to make sure you knew to try authentic Aussie grub while you're here.
