That's a pretty bad-ass transition to fly. I've done it in an OH-58D :-)

Hey Timbo! Behind you...

That's Palos Verdes (the little hill in the background)! I can almost see Chadwick School and Rat Beach.

Closer look. Catalina is 30 miles West. Great to row the channel in a surf dory Mate!

Re: DrifterDrivers HSF adventure thread

Just experienced US airport security for the first time......WOW! Talk about intense! Shoes off (steel cap or not), belts off, nothing inyour pockets at all, not even paper, into some scanning barrel (dont know what there called but scanning barrel has a nice ring to it!) then a pat down. Thats far my intense thanwhat i had leaving international in australia!

Back home its put you bag on the scanner and meet it out the other end!

Yep, ardently striving to prevent last year's terrorism, that's our TSA. Makes the freedom of private flight even more precious.

Re: DrifterDrivers HSF adventure thread

Have had a great day in sacramento. Met emmet today at the airport in LA! He was getting off a plane just before i got on one. Then flew up here with southwest airlines. Talk about fantastic service! Hired a car to get to grips with driving on the wrong side of the road. Went to the california auto mueseum. That was fantastic, honestly. My guide neil gave me The tour of the place and did a brilliant job. Though i did get to do something really great. On this here back to the future day, i got to sit in a delorane! Now im just hanging out at old sacramento. Lovley spot.

Tim,

If you were window seated on the other side of the Southwest 737, you could of seen Yosemite Valley, especially Half Dome. Left hand side you are seeing the coastal foot hills. Isn't California beautiful?

The greatest rock climber in the world is from Sacramento, Alex Honnold:

Tim, do you realize October 21st 2015 is the day doc Brown and Marty McFly went back to the Future! And you got to sit in a DeLorean on the same day that's pretty cool. I'm glad your having fun so far and the fun is only just beginning. Sorry I won't get the chance to meet you at the fly in. I jumped on a last minute flight to a different desert to make a little extra money to help fix up my 170.

DrifterDriver, It was great to meet you. Have a great time on the rest of your trip! As I told you, you inspired me to get my arse over to the HSF once I realized I really had no excuse if you could pull it off!
