Timbo,

Looks like an advertisement for a backcountry JetStar flight (the hands in the air). JetStar famously shows a self promotion video on each flight of beautiful female Aussie flight attendants jumping in the air (hands to the sky) in each destination the airline flys.

Carry on Mate, you are doing fabulous!!

Drifter Driver, thanks for the great report and enthusiasm! Nicely done sir!

Of course, it is entirely appropriate that the photo that summarizes your excitement and thrill is with….a MAULE!

Best regards and safe travels

Re: DrifterDrivers HSF adventure thread

Well the last 2 days have been amazing. Met my wife in reno at lunchtime. Monday and spent the afternoon driving around lake tahoe. Wow what a stunning spot! Made camp at south lake tahoe, but when we thought the views couldnt get any better, we drove down highway 395 to yosemite! That was just incredible. Highlights included seeing a bear not 6?feet away, but the top of the list was i saw my first ever snow! I even got to make my first ever snow man!......or snow penguin atleast!

More photos to come but once again when i get home and can get to my pc

Tim, it was a pleasure meeting you on the playa and seeing some of these events through your eyes. The combination of great flying and great people is hard to beat, and this event brought the best of both to one place for a few short days. Happy trails during the rest of your visit this year. We all hope you repeat your adventure thread when you return to see Alaska next year!

Re: DrifterDrivers HSF adventure thread

Ok so I need to apologize about being so slack about keeping up on the thread, long story short.....I was having to much fun on my Holiday!

So as promised I got photos of our journey from Reno, to South Lake Tahoe, then on to Yosemite. What an amazing journey that was. It was a bit overcast which in some ways was a disappointment, however nature in its own right can only become more amazing in the wet if you take it for what it is, and Yosemite really was a shinning example of this.

got to make 2 snow men! thats right, the 5 year old within kept escaping. Also saw alot of variety of wildlife, including a bear which was amazing. I have taken a liking to squirrels I have to admit, I know there mostly seen as pests but there cheeky little turds so I feel at home with them!

Find the photos at the link Below.

Re: DrifterDrivers HSF adventure thread

Next Stop was a run through Death valley, another amazing place. We stopped to look at a coyote that walked infront of us on the road, got some great shots of it to. I guess its like people when they come down here with kangaroos, despite them being a pest they where still interesting to us! my Wifes friend who was traveling with us decided she wanted to jump out of the car to get some better photos. She re thought the situation when I pointed out that while she was looking at the one, another 7 had moved in completely circling the car.....She decided driving on would be the better option!

we stopped at Furnace Creek for a bite of lunch. My wife who doesn't eat much at the best of times decided to order a simple turkey sandwich. And thought she would try onion rings to for a first time. Turned out to be the biggest thing on the menu! she got half way through it and didn't eat again for 2 days!

while travelling though Death valley I got to see 7 F18's doing low level training at Panamint Springs. I particularly found death valley amazing as being someone who spends alot of time in the desert, I was astonished by just how much life there was, aswell as the amount of natural structure. The Mountains in the place where bigger than our coastal mountain ranges.

Re: DrifterDrivers HSF adventure thread

Next stop was St George Utah. The Original reason to go to saint George was to meet with my good friend James Wallace, A friendship that began on this very site, as James Wallace is better known to you guys as DogPilot! James has been wanting for a couple of years to take me for a flight over the grand canyon, though unfortunately due to weather, James couldn't get out of his home in flagstaff till the early afternoon meaning we had some time to kill.

Hours spent twiddling my thumbs proved not to be an issue however as when speaking to a certain fella at HSF, I found out that both the famous super cub General Lee, sister aircraft to Joe Pops Dorys Cub Coyote Ugly lives in St George, as does its owner James Wallace! What started as messaging saying while I'm in town do you want to have some breakfast, quickly turned into lets go hungry and head out for a first light Grand Canyon flight! this was one of the greatest flights I've ever experienced without the stick in my Hand! We bounced just above our 1000F AGL limit giving a great low level look at this amazing place. On the way to and fro the canyon we had plenty of Low level fun, chasing cattle and antelope and buzzing around old volcanoes.

I got a bit of video and put this together!
