HIGH SIERRA PIC THREAD: Post em up!

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: HIGH SIERRA PIC THREAD: Post em up!

I'm not much with photos, but here are a couple of lousy ipad shots showing what 73 airplanes looked like at sunrise on Saturday morning from my campsite on the east side of 3SGS.

I've been lucky enough to be a part of all five of these little shindigs. I can't thank Kevin enough for all of the time, energy, and money that he has invested in producing these incredible events, and for letting me be a part.

Re: HIGH SIERRA PIC THREAD: Post em up!

I'm not one for captions so, hopefully these speak for themselves. (I hate the "by Alex Wells on Flickr" but I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it.)

I had a great time and I'm glad I got to meet many of you. Sorry if I seemed rushed and not very talkative, but I was trying to capture the event as best I could with my camera. The year before, I was disappointed with the number of good pictures I got so, this year, I was pushing myself a bit harder.

Can't wait until next time! See you then,

Alex

Re: HIGH SIERRA PIC THREAD: Post em up!

I know its been said but those photos are just BRILLIANT Alex! I particularly appreciated them because for a bloke who really cant get there Its a big pond to cross in a little drifter) if was so nice to see the Human element of the fly in, it just brings out that side of bush flying that I love most, thats its not just about the planes, but its about the life experiences those planes can offer you.

Edit - I finally got to finish looking through everyone elses photos on this thread, aswell as kevins google page, and I just want to take a moment to say you guy have some SERIOUS talent with a camera, truly impressed! welld one!

Wow, Alex - you nailed it! I'd say your efforts paid off this year. Some of your panning shots are awesome! The "People of HSF" candid portraits are great.

Re: HIGH SIERRA PIC THREAD: Post em up!

First off, beautiful pictures all. Thanks for helping me to remember such a wonderful experience through your images.

Second, arrrrrrrrrrgh. You know the sound Charlie Brown makes when Lucy pulls the football away? I'm making it. Got home very excited to look at my pictures, only to discover that I somehow managed to delete roughly 500 images. Arrivals and departures--gone. Gold Mine--gone. TW Ridge--gone. Topaz Beach--gone. Wild Horses--gone. Three days of sunrises and sunsets--gone. The tech gremlins win again. Many bad words have been uttered in their honor.

All I'm left with are a few snaps that managed to survive the glitch, and a couple random cell phone pics and panoramas. For that reason, I am especially grateful to the rest of you for your pictures. The only good news is that I haven't managed to screw up any of my raw video yet, which I am excited to begin editing as soon as I can find time.

Here's the little I had left.

Great pictures everyone, its great seeing families and friends getting together in celebration of this great freedom of flying we enjoy. Keep them coming. I have yet to make it to a fly-in (rather new pilot and plane owner), but seeing these pictures has just stoked the fire a bit more.
