Keeping Up With Crzyivan13-Video: Travelin'

Hey guys, I just thought I would make a thread for myself. I just wanted a place to store pics on the fly, and post my random adventures. I will post things like Instagram pics, and videos and other fun stuff.

I guess it will be like my "footlocker." Filled with random goodies.

Re: Keeping Up With Crzyivan13...

Here is the first entry.

I took a new job in eastern Pennsylvania. I finally got out and did some exploring last weekend. Burned holes in the sky for about 3 hours just cruising around with nowhere to go. Started off at my new place which is located at "The Flying M Aerodrome" (P91), went up near the Pocono Speedway and then west just buzzing around. Not sure exactly where all i went, just kept an eye on my fuel and stayed close to my new home away from home.

Here is the video:

Look for the Deer, a small tower near a forest road, an energy management turn, and a short landing. I rolled the wheel on a sandbar (or mudbar) but just didn't feel comfortable putting her down. There were multiple ATV tracks that were DEEEP. Places to land are hard to come by out here. Its either totally remote, or totally populated!

EDIT: Here is a sat photo of the dried up lake on the video.

Re: Keeping Up With Crzyivan13...

Loved your video! I'm jealous, I need to make some time to just go out and go flying. Seems like all I ever do is go from point A to point B these days.

Looked like some nice flying conditions. Just a little chilly but not too cold? It looks like that lake area will be nice too, once it dries up some more.

Thanks Cam. Ya the weather was great. Light winds and almost no thermal activity. It was cool, not cold. Once it came overcast it was even better.

Here's a pic of that valley that I flew down in the video.

I still have my place in Ohio. I am renting a house on the strip at the Flying M. The house is huge and the strip here is 2000' long, so if anyone needs a place to stay coming through just call ahead!! That goes for my place in Ohio too. There is a car there too. But you have to be able to operate from 1000' grass.

Whats the ramp queen at Arner? I haven't made it up there yet.

Crzyivan13,

Nice energy management turn on the steep one. The safety aspect of making all turns, steep or shallow, energy management is that the energy sayings is already there when unexpectedly needed.

How long did it take to get the corn out of the brakes? ;-)

I gotta get back over in your neck of the woods next summer...

Re: Keeping Up With Crzyivan13...

Looked up the info on that "poor old girl". Registered 2006, apparently renewed this year with an expiration date of 2018. So at least they're keeping the regis current. Windshield's clean, tires aren't flat...maybe it's being flown and that's just how it looks. It's a 1973 model... go find some person that's been left out in the weather for 40 years and see what they look like.

Ha! Funny thing is I've been left out in the weather for 50+ years and I don't look 1/2 that good, but I still function (Mostly). Hopefully she still is flying.

Hey Crzyivan13, we will be down your way - Schnecksville - for a few days over thanksgiving. Probably driving, but we may fly down. Would enjoy meeting you if you are going to be around.

Re: Keeping Up With Crzyivan13...

Come on up to the Adirondacks in New York, only a couple of hours away. I fly with pburns and we'll put you up and show you some fun places. Nothing real short (too many trees), but some grass, pretty country and some neat airplanes to look at.
