I put the blanket on this baby for the last time this morning. She left on her journey today to her new owner. A very bittersweet feeling to be certain.

Thanks Mike. Glad to hear from you. I am definitely going to miss the little Savage and its dirt bike like qualities. I am REALLY looking forward to the next plane too. Now I just have to find it!

Re: Keeping Up With Crzyivan13...

I just got back from a trip out to Montana to learn a thing or two about the 1950’s vintage Cessna 180’s. I got some pointers on how to do a thorough pre-buy inspection and then was able to be checked out in a 1959 C180B!

I was so impressed with the performance of this airplane. It was truly a magic carpet. It had the big Mac floatplane prop installed, as well as being equipped with a Horton STOL kit. She was fast and landed slow.

Now I know what I am looking for when it comes to mods and performance in my Cessna 180 search. Thanks to Charlie for the checkout, and thanks to all my BCP friends for the pointers and guidance. Shoutout to Stene Aviation http://www.steneaviation.com/ in Polson, MT for the hospitality!

From Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday i took my 94 year old (95 next week) WW2 veteran grandfather to lunch.

He flew P40s and P39s in the south Pacific during the campaign in 1944-45. He flew P51s once he got back stateside. He had been itching to fly in the new bird since before i bought it. I was honored to take him up. He even told me my landing was shitty. Ha! He said "we always used to do power on landings...." I thing he meant slightly behind the power curve. He said he could put a P40 down in under a 1000'.

He has off airport "pioneer" experience as well, being the first to land on a fresh strip built on some no name island in the SP. He and his wingman raced to bag it first. I guess i get it honest!!!

Me too! Ha. Completes the "retro-ness". It will be gone soon enough, I am enjoying its qualities for now.

Isn't that Astroturf?
And I'm betting that the bacon is a gift from a previous owner, left in the glove box!

Re: Keeping Up With Crzyivan13- PA,NY,MA,VT,NH,ME

I sold some parts to my friend Jake- aka Slantbuggy for his 65 180H Project in Maine. I agreed to ship them to him for the price negotiated. Last batch of tailwheels that I sold got lost in the USPS mail system for about a month, and luckily were found.

If you have a place for me to visit, Off Airport Gear will offer in house guaranteed shipment and delivery in a classic 1957 182A.

I decided last minute to hand deliver the items, mainly because I've always wanted to venture up to the Northeast, and I had the time, so what the hell! Sorry to all my friends that I missed meeting up with. It was definitely a last minute idea and wasn't planning on staying, but the weather moved in a little bit quicker than anticipated. Admittedly, I was happy to be stuck for the night, and glad I packed an overnight bag.

The accommodations were excellent! Thanks Jake!

We were having a heat wave in PA and the forecast temps up North were very inviting.

The next day, I wanted to go northwest to see Mt Washington. Bethel, ME had cheap fuel so I went there to fill up. This Super Cub, just out of a fresh restoration in Nova Scotia was on its way to OSH. I like the registration.

Mt. Washington was looking gorgeous on Sunday. Mt. Washington is the highest peak east of the Mississippi. White Mountains, Presidential Range.

This airplane continues to take me to new places faster, and with more capability than I ever imagined. I am so happy that I found her. I have transitioned from being obsessed about the flying, to being immersed in the destination, and all the adventure in between. That's what this has always been about. It's really easy to get caught up in the plane, or in the setup, but its really where these planes can take you, and the people that you meet that really fuels this passion. For me, anyway.

Looks like a great trip. Fastback swept tail 182's have an irresistible charm to me, not sure why. Those are two cool 182's. And I would say that the tire envy is warranted ;)
