No problem. . I just know that there is a political party in bc that isn't business friendly even though business keeps their union brothers employed. . They love to bite the hand that feeds them.. lol

Yup. Well we can still be friends even though you fly an NDP plane. Haha. I'll forgive you.

Does using carbon fiber have enough advantage over aluminum to make it worth the hassle, other than being able to say "that's a carbon fiber panel"? An aluminum panel in a 182 doesn't hardly weigh enough to worry about -- if trimming some weight off is important, there's other places where you can lose more weight easier.

I wasn't sure if there was a hassle or not. Hence why I asked. If there wasn't a hassle I do think it would be worth it.

Re: Straight tail project

That's going to look awesome! Black and orange was one of the original 182 colors. I also like how you stuck with the working old radios and didn't have to spend 10k on an upgrade.

This is the most the painters would let me see today. . They're masking off the interior in order to spray it tomorrow

Re: Straight tail project

That is where I work Monday to Friday. I work on the "maintenance" side though.. Doing most of the sheet metal work and reassembly after paint. Along with the fabric work and a little bit of "annual" work.. It's actually a nice gig, Monday to Friday home on weekends and no commute. Plus I can walk out the door, hop in my plane and fly away, to de stress my day..

I'm really liking how it is turning out. . The old radios still worked, so we didn't see the point in changing them out.. Maybe next year or the year after. Might upgrade to a tsod icom 200 out of the tcraft that is hanging in our rafters. . And if the transponder ever dies we have a garmin sitting on the shelf wanting to be installed.

Re: Straight tail project

We wanted a paint scheme that looked almost stock, ie straight lines and "hockey sticks", but just a little different. . And then we chose two colours, either orange or green. Once we decided to use orange because we saw a paint chip that just said "pick me, " we had top choose the trim color. We chose black as the trim mainly because we couldn't think of a colour that went with orange.
