UPDATED: Cen Cal / Red Hills Fly in 5/17-5/18

UPDATE: Fly in changed to 5/17 - 5/18

So just wanted to start talking about having a Red Hills strip flyin. Jack and Myrna Moyle own the strip and love to have folks fly in. You'll never meet a sweeter couple. The strip is as close to civilization as you can get and still be in the middle of nowhere.

GPS Coord: 37.865164,-120.486527

So what do you think? Have a flyin to kick off the flying season later in the spring? Have a campout?

I came up with an online liability waiver. Please fill it out before you fly in. I'm going to fly out there next week and let Jack know that everyone who flies in will complete it online and I'll bring the whole list to him at once. It's here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ZlPRJG ... c/viewform

Re: Red Hills Fly in

A fly-in & campout with some adult beverages sounds great to me. Count me in.

Re: Red Hills Fly in

Scott, I just checker the coordinates you posted and they don't seem to be correct or it is me. Can you check.

I'm thinking late may or early June. Fun way to kick of the flying season.

Re: Red Hills Fly in

Okay, I'll just through the date out there. Let's shoot for Friday May 16th and Saturday May 17th?

We can fly out to Columbia for an early dinner or cook your own at the strip. Then a potluck on Saturday night?

There are several fun strips in the area that are back country but aren't too challenging and lots of other places to play. I'll post more info as we get closer. Will try to pick a rain (ha ha) date too.

If you plan on attending please be sure to fill out the liability waiver per our hosts' request: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ZlPRJG ... c/viewform

Re: Red Hills Fly in

Sorry guys, can anyone who filled out the form prior to this morning fill it out one more time. I had to tweak it. I'm done, I promise. I'm not a programmer so...

Re: Red Hills Fly in

Scott, Not sure when the Caveman Flyin will be this year, Just want to make sure they don't conflict with each other.

Re: Red Hills Fly in

I don't want to conflict with any fly-ins either. Let me know and if possible we can move ours around.

Jack is a retired heavy equipment operator. He owned an excavation company. If it was ever used to move dirt, you might just find it here. :)

Re: Red Hills Fly in

Okay, last year's Caveman Ranch fly-in was on May 24. Is the week before Caveman too close? Should I move the event back a week or two to mid or early May? Or move it later to early or mid June? What say you?

Re: Red Hills Fly in

I think Gary has the Caveman fly in on the weekend of the full moon in May which is the 16th this year. Also, the Luscombe fly in at Columbia is the 16th-18th of May. I'm hoping to be down for the Luscombe gathering and if it ends up being the same weekend as this one maybe I'll swing by.
