Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Flew up to Green River Lakes yesterday, in the Wind River Range.

Re: Where did you fly today?

It's too bad you have a limitation on your certificate (English proficiency)
That's so sad

Re: Where did you fly today?

Just did some research. Apparently all new Licenses have "Limitations - English Proficient" printed on it. Some new ICAO requirement....

Re: Where did you fly today?

Bryan,
Linda said the flybys looked great.
I was out flying rather than picking rocks.
yes still soft, need some rain or a water truck.
The jeep only leaves a inch grouve, but a lot of dust.
I'll keep at it, except trying to fly more, too.
I'll let you all know.

Rob,
Great talking with your Dad. The plane looks clean.
You had a good excuse for not being there: great work.

No plans to do any IFR in the 170.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I was able to fly around a little on the first! It was a super nice day with only a few bumps over the mountains. Which, is the location I found this gem (which apparently Joey already found! So he gets to name it) Anyway, I was going to fly there on Friday but that didn't work out and I instead ended up flying to Porterville for lunch with a friend. Made it back to give Rob a congrats for getting his ticket too!
Then today I had to fly the bird down to Santa Maria (KSMX) for some "touch up paint!" I gotta shoot an approach yesterday and then today I was able to shoot not just one but two approaches into SMX. The funny thing about flightaware.com is that sometimes i'll just pick you back up as if on cruise control. It shows a nice circle as if I came back for an approach. In reality I went missed at SMX (climbed 300ft into VFR!!) flew to L52 and took care of some "business" (too much water!) Took off and shot another approach. The sucky part of the the day was the 5 hour drive back to Fairfield....

Re: Where did you fly today?

Weather actually cooperated when I had time! Nothing spectacular, just around the local airfield, but it would good to get out. Had to use painter's tape on that door gap. Gap seal speed mod, Cub style...
