Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Re: Where did you fly today?

that pic of the float plane was taken up at detroit reservoir, last summer. Let the fun begin!!!!! :D

I was thinking Terry ought to take Tyler in the 180 out for some water play on the river to show him how it is done, shall we say immerse him in the subject so to speak!

Re: Where did you fly today?

I flew to Warrenton Airpark (7VG0) in VA to watch the jumpers for a spell, then flew to KHWY to drop my plane off for maintenance. The Flying Circus airshow planes were just getting back from a show at 3VA3. The Flying Circus does an airshow every weekend all summer long with aerobatics, a melodrama performance on the ground, picnic tables for families visiting and rides when the airshow is over. It is a great introduction to flying for many kids in the area!

Re: Where did you fly today?

That is one SWEET flying 150hp A model Cub that Doug has (BLR VG's and Borer 82/41 only mods). Mine feels pretty good and is fairly light, but his feels overall lighter and rolls faster on Wip amphibs than mine does on wheels. Just an amazing fingertip airplane to fly, its in a different league. 8)
Most of the time the Cub sits in a hangar (he also has a go-fast RV and flies choppers), but every now and then it gets hauled out to dance. It's like having a Stradivarius stuffed in the dark corner of a museum under glass. :?

Re: Where did you fly today?

I recently won a drawing at work for an opportunity to ride in back of the owners DC-3. I have been able to walk through several DC-3s but never got the chance to ride in one. I will say I will always be fond of them and will hop aboard every chance I get but I do have to say I don't think they are ideal for the scenic style flights. You really don't realize how big of a wing they have until you try to have a look at the ground.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I stopped at Bridgewater last summer because the chart called the airport an airpark. I thought it might be a residential airpark that wasn't listed on the living with your plane website. Nope, that wasn't it at all, but that DC3 is a fabulous restoration. It looks like there is a pretty major aircraft refitting operation going on there.

The airport is privately owned but open to the public. Dynamic Aviation, the company i work for, is the owner and only resident of the airport and we do all sorts of things, with our king air fleet we spray for mosquitoes, drop sterile flies, drop rabies vaccines, oil spill, air data acquisition, wildfire management, and up until this year flying ISR over in Afghanistan, and we have a fleet of DHC-8s flying over in Afghanistan also

T'sek (Skookumchuck) Hot Springs, about 50nm NE from Vancouver BC.
Hadn't been there in a couple years. Still landable, though surface has settled a bit in places. Sides are brushed out and grass was cut, credit to the caretaker in the cabin to keep it up even though he doesn't see a lot of airplanes drop in.
