Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Cool! I assume rides were smooth with no wind. That is one big hill for sure.

I went into McKenzie Bridge airstrip for a one-night respite. Beautiful evening and sights along the way.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Just got back about 2 hours ago - hauled a Husky from the Orlando, FL area to here (Brainerd, MN) fighting that stupid tropical storm almost the whole way... Left Leesburg, FL Wednesday evening about 7 and made it to the FL/GA line. Then got from Valdosta, GA to Chicago yesterday (by way of Winston Salem, NC) before hitting the wall of no light and T-storms around 8:30 pm. Left after a line of T-storms this morning and fought 15 to 20 mph on the nose all the way home. Ugh, might need to do a trip report at some point, but only had iPhone for pics.

Re: Where did you fly today?

I had intended to head north to scout some strips for hunting later this fall, but the low clouds these past few days have stymied my efforts. It turns out that my last-minute backup plan wasn't such a terrible alternative.

The glacier-carved rocks were so cool!

Re: Where did you fly today?

Wow. I can't compete with any of that. but I did see a coyote on my last flight. I'm in training for my PPL and did my first skip to a nearby airport. Also the first non controlled airport. Wonderful experience non the less.

Out and about with the Freedom Fox. New constant speed prop is on and it's a game changer. 15kts faster in cruise, temps are 20 degrees cooler and 2850 rpm = Horse Power felt in the seat. Game changer

Re: Where did you fly today?

Kevin,

What prop did you put on her? I just switched from 3 blade MT to the 2 blade Ultra on my Husky. Both great props, 2 blade faster, 3 blade smoother but not by much and it has better drag for steeper approaches.

Sunrise Valley Ranch this Saturday morning with the nephew and brother in law. This is a wonderful place for breakfast or dinner if you call a day or two in advance. They'll pick you up from the strip and give you a hay ride to ranchhouse and cook you up an excellent meal. I believe they have a few rooms for the night as well. Great strip, great people, and great food, highly recommend it!

Where did you fly today?

Flew across Wisconsin for a weekend at the lake. *Finally* the weather has cooperated enough where I could get out!

Checking out the wind farms in SE Wisconsin
Image

Flying above the puffy stuff. Odd, because I rarely fly above 1500AGL!
Image

Son looks like he's viewing the landscape with great intent, but it's really the inside of his eyelids that are getting attention
Image

Over the river and through the woods

Enjoying the sunset in SW Wisconsin
Image

Blowing up watermelon with a couple hundred rubber bands (it kaboomed nicely)
Image

Having a great fish fry with fresh-caught crappie
Image

Also took my in-laws on their first flight with me in many years. Great evening for a tour of the chain of lakes.
