Where did you fly today?

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

What exactly is that miscreant dipping, and what do you do with them afterwards?

LMAO! That Hooligan showed up at Merrill Field and invited himself on my day trip, citing that because he is my son the back seat is by default his. The fish are Eulachon/Candlefish a type of super oily sea run smelt headed up river to spawn. I prepare them a few ways and only limit myself to 10 gallons a year. They are not for everybody though, you either love em or hate em. Kinda a acquired taste so to speak. They make good sport fish bait as well.
I was pleasantly surprised the Hooligan actually stayed around to help gut the catch. Pretty elusive and rarely seen kid till Hunting,Fishing,Flying and Girls are involved. LOL

That’s the best pic we got....counted almost 70 planes though in all different directions!

(This was Polly Creek, AK also, didn’t show up as a reply for some reason)

Couldn't agree more, except for the flights in MI, I haven't had any of those.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Not exactly today, but over the past few days. I rarely get to fly in the morning, even on my "days off" I almost always head into work for at least a hour or so during our whitewater season, which typically runs from April - Mid October. Since we have been shut down for 10 weeks (looking at another month before we can get going again), I have taken the opportunity to get out as many mornings as possible. We have had some great AM flying the last 10 days or so. Here are a few shots from a few flights over that period. A couple are on the way to a paved strip (4B7) about 15 minutes from our strip which almost always has at least a slight cross wind as it sits on the end of a lake. I go there to brush up on my pavement landings and scare myself. The others are just ramming around the local area. For those of you that aren't familiar we are at Bennett's Field in North Creek, NY 0NY0

That is some nice country that I used to know well. Lake Tear of the Clouds where you can straddle the head of the Hudson on two legs. Otter Slide on the Indian River where my squirt boat saved my life by staying in one piece. Tahawus aka Marcy aka Cloudsplitter where I got to fly a lap in a Comanche when I was a kid. I left a fair amount of Vibram rubber on High-Peaks anorthosite, summer and winter. Thanks for sparking some fond memories.

Wait a minute, squirt boat on the Otter Slide? We have to know each other, or at least have common friends. Shoot me a PM if you want. My squirt boat is now a lawn ornament.

Re: Where did you fly today?

Went fishing with my Uncle over near McGregor, MN.

Eastbound out of BRD (yes the windscreen needs cleaning.. :? (thin scud line on the horizon is over Lake Superior)
Image
Lots of traffic at McGregor, no ADSB...

McGregor "terminal" instructions:

Squitos are largish and mean. I think this one may have had a glass drill...
Image
Trout were smallish, but lots of action:

Viking

westbound for BRD
Image
Squito hawks swarmed the Cub after getting back home.

This toad was contemplating life from the window of the tomato pot. He spent most of the morning in deep thought.

Re: Where did you fly today?

A good buddy and customer of mine is getting into ag flying. So I had the privilege of ferrying this beauty of an AgTruck from Red Deer over to Yorkton so he can start his ag schooling there. Added a new taildragger to my logbook in the process. It started out very nice, good view of the Rockies on our flight down to Red Deer from Eaglesham, then the wind started. Wasn't terrible leaving Red Deer, but by the time we got to Kindersley for fuel it was 22G29 with a bit if a crosswind factor. I got to do my first needed go around on pavement. Then we got out of there and things were real fun in Yorkton. She was 19G31 in the nose and 13G22 from the left. Max demonstrated is 15 on the C188... but I got er down in one piece and had a hell of a fun taxi over to the hangar. Not recommended. All in all a fun trip and now we are burning home in the 182. Be hone late tonight.

Thanks. Its was interesting to say the least. Yes it was a rough ride. But still a good time really. Watching this sunset with smooth air now. Image

Re: Where did you fly today?

One Fitty, I'm based out of Brainerd. So a hundred odd miles from DLH. It was a super clear morning, so could see the fog over Superior from quite a ways away. 8)

Re: Where did you fly today?

Flew into Rimbey yesterday. The entire airport (grass strip) is in amazing condition and looks more like a huge golf green. Flight home last night sucked for wind and turnbulance, but better once in circuit.
